scar tissue??
scar tissue?? I had a fibroadenoma taken out on 26th Feb this year. I am noticing a lump or thickening in the same breast which I expected to be directly beneath the scar but is actually about half an inch beneath it. Would this still be scar tissue? (I think Im getting paranoid).
Dear Evie If you wish to discuss your concerns with one of our helpliners, please feel free to contact the freephone helpline on 0808 800 6000 Monday to Friday 9am-5pm and Saturday 9am-2pm.
Kind regards

Evie, get it checked out, love it’s always better to be safe than sorry and hopefully it will put your mind at rest. If not at least something will be being done.
As the moderator says you can always ring the help line in the mean time but do see if you can get an appointment with your specialist as well.
Hope everything is ok,
Valerie
ok oh…bum!!! I was hoping that someone would say “thats quite normal” or “that happens to me post op” or even “stop being paranoid”. But I will ring the Dr today and make an appointment (which will probably be in about 2 weeks knowing my docs).
I am not particularly worried though, theres no pain, discharge or dimpling, it looks kinda flat in that area though?? Probably lack of lump.
I will let you know.
Thanks Valerie xx
I could lie if that would help no seriously Evie, I’m sure it is nothing but you’d like to know for certain one way or another wouldn’t you?
Did you get an appointment? When you gotta go?
I can usually be found ‘loitering with intent’ around the Chit-Chat and fun page if you want me. Either wise I’ll try and remember to pop back here.
I say try because I couldn’t remember for the life of me where I’d left you. Had to try all the pages before I found you again.
I put it down to ‘chemo brain’. Don’t be rude, it’s a recognised condition it is NOT down to my age :o)
Take care, have a good Easter,
Valerie xxx
Docs on holiday Rang doctors and hes on holiday at the moment. Back on the 25th, I think I will wait for him, he is the only doctor that is any good around here and he knows me.
I have heard of “chemo brain”, so I wouldnt dare put it down to your age. I am just dopey naturally so I have no excuses he he, I think mine is definately my age, I blame it on the menopause.
Happy Easter, I will let you know what he says.
Yvonne xx
How did you get on? Hi Yvonne,
What happened with the doctor Friday?
I still had the 25th in my head then something clicked and I looked back on the chit-chat forum to find it was the 20th. Sorry I didn’t get to wish you luck beforehand.
Do let me know,
Valerie x
hmmmmm I dont think hes too sure, he just said that it seems ok but to keep an eye on it. He seemed to say more or less the same thing about the mark on my face. He said it was nothing sinister though.
Sorry I didnt get back in touch I have teenager problems at the moment (shes 14) groan!!!
Thanks for remembering I should have found you really.
Hows everything with you now?
Yvonne xx
Do you mind if I join you for a breakdown? I haven’t got children, teenage or otherwise but I think I might be losing the plot.
Today I found myself crying because I had decided to go for a little trip into town to get my mum’s presciption and then she got it herself - I mean what’s that all about?
Then I decided I would go only got on the bus going in the wrong direction and ended up in another town altogether and it’s not as though I haven’t lived here all my life.
Since then I’vr dropped a screwdriver which dug a big chunk out of my leg and burnt my arm on the oven.
Sigh!
Some days it would be better not to have got up. :o)
Sorry about that Yvonne, well, that’s good news…I think…did you get out the doctors and wonder what the heck happened there?
Sooooo…you’ve got to keep and eye on it, eh? Mine usually says something like, come back if it happens again and I think, well that’s why I’m here now.
Good luck with it anyway,
Valerie xxx
Breakdown me??? I have 5 kids aged 32, 23, 19, 14 and 11 and 2 and a half grandchildren (the half is due in August) so as you can imagine my life is a bit mad anyways. Actually you can borrow a few if you would like. Most of the time I dont know my a***e from my elbow.
I hope you found your way home ok. I have days like that, my mum is very demanding, my dad died 10 years ago and since then nothing I do is good enough for her, never mind, such is life.
This one topped everything, on Sunday we went to our local pub in the afternoon to celebrate St Georges Day, I took my youngest son George with me and he was messing around, we were both sitting on those tall stalls and you can probably guess the rest. Yep in the middle of a packed pub we ended up in a heap on the floor. I now have a massive bruise appearing on my forearm. It must have looked sooo funny. (And I had only had about 4 drinks)
I’ll see your pub story and raise you my MFI one I was looking for a stool for my kitchen but being short I was trying to get one that I could perch onto without the need on a ladder!
I got a display one down from the shelf in MFI and rested my hip against it, no weight whatsoever, and it just totally collapsed.
The whole thing fell apart right in front of the information desk which of course was surrounded by staff with nothing better to do.
I nonchalently (yeah right) picked up the various pieces of wood, put them back on the shelf and sidled away while they were still laughing and looking for hidden tv cameras.
Oh the embarrassment!
Valerie
ps I’m sure I read somewhere that drinking alcholol is good for bruises… :o)
oooooppppsss Great story but I cant help feeling that I came off worse considering I have to face all those people when I want to go to my local. Oh well, I will get ribbed to death for a while then they will go on to someone else (hopefully).
Hows your dad getting on? I hope everything went ok with him.
Speak to you soon

Scar Tissue Hi Evie (& Valerie)
Hope you don’t mind me butting in - you sound like you are great online friends!
I had a firboadenoma removed last October and my surgeon told me that the scar tissue under the scar would be quite hard. I was surprised that it seemed to be so deep, but I did have internal stitches. Anyway he told me to gently massage the area, it went away quite quickly and now I have no hard tissue at all. Perhaps you could ask your Dr if he/she would be happy for you to do that…? I found it easiest after my shower and I used a little moisturiser.
Caroline
Thanks Caroline Thanks for the advice I will try that. Never thought I would be massaging my own boob, its amazing what happens in situations like this *blush* he he.
Hi Caroline, nice of you to join us I might give that a try myself! Second thoughts, does anyone know where I can get a toyboy, hee hee.
I do find I get a lot of pain in my scar particularly when it’s rainy!
Dad’s not bad thanks Yvonne, though poor old mum has just been diagnosed with diabetes - as if having got throught BC twice wasn’t enough! and what with having polyps removed from ‘down below’ as she puts it.
Take care the pair of you,
Love, Valerie
Hi Girls
Was wondering how you got on with the massaging? My fiance commented the other day on how amazing it is that I have no hard tissue at all under my scar and it made me wonder how you were both doing!?
Hope that you are both well. It sounds like you both have lots of challenges to face, and I hope that you are remembering to look after yourselves too - me time is very healing, in many ways!
Take care
hugs, Caroline

scar tissue Hi
I have had seven operations in my breasts (bilateral mastectomy also) in the past 5 years, and another lump removed in xmas just past (fibroidenoma). I have loads of scar tissue as you can imagine, but I gently massaged the skin area with Bio Oil (It is quite expensive £8,95 for a small bottle), but it is great on your scar and any scars or unevenness on your body skin.
I rubbed it on daily for about 8 weeks, and it was softer and faided too.
See how you get on.

Vit E Hiya,
Not been for a while, but am back, reading the posts…
I was told once , break a vitamin E tablet and rub the oil it into the scar, it eases & heals… and it works.
I had a lumpectomy in 1990, just recently its been causing discomfort… yeah I know it was 17 years ago.
The Vit E works tho, rubbing into the scar area¦.
I take evening primrose oil ( when i remember) that works also .
Take care
Nemo
