Hi again JoJo, yes I’m fine thanks. I have my replacement x-rayed once a year just to check it’s okay, nothing’s moved. I’m on Ibandronate (tablets) bisphosphonates now as after 3 plus years of infusions my veins were collapsing and the last infusion took 8 attempts to find a vein. The tablets are okay, no side effects. Not her2+ so no herceptin.
Hope Arimidex continues to work well for both of us! x
Hi Lou Your obviously posting here because you are very worried about your mum.
As you can tell from the mixed replys there is really no way of knowing how qickley progression will happen with your mum, I think she has only used up 1 lot of chemo so far? there are plenty more chemo’s for her to try. I’m not leading you into false hope but a friend of mine had spinal cord compression a year ago, she was able to have surgery and she went sking a few months back. I really hope you will be able to hear of some more positive stories to tell your mum.
I have found Oncs to be ‘very’ blase about bone mets which can sometimes leave reletives and even patients with less concern, at the end of the day your mum has stage IV breast cancer which is non curable but hopefully with other treatments still available she is at the STARTof a rocky road, you will probaly find its like going 2 steps forward and 3 back. Its very frightening for family to have to watch us suffer all aspects of this disease. To help your Mum more maybe you could seek out specialist in the area of concern when her Onc has confirmed what is actually wrong ie specialist in spinal cord compression, spinal mets ect. Our oncs have an overview of BC, its sometimes best to go for a 2nd opinion.
Time and response will tell how tings are looking.
I wish you lots of luck and your mum too
