Hi Rachelle, good luck for tomorrow .I took Valium on the morning of my op ,it did help but the dose given by GP was very low and I took 2 before it had any effect .Its very nerve wracking having an anaesthetic ,I felt very anxious and talked absolute rubbish to the anaesthetist ,they must have thought I was bonkers .It was just like being asleep for a couple of minutes ,over in a flash .This time tomorrow you will be sitting up in bed with a cup of tea and some toast .
Hi Rachel I got my do 5 weeks ago too , Mx tomorrow but not having recon I’m 51 so an oldie next to you ? I’m calm but it could be because I’m not thinking about it too much . Last time I had a general anaesthetic I tried to get the nursing staff to start a revolution !!! Talked absolute twaddle . Good luck tomorrow and I will see you on the otherside of la la land .
hi annie your post made me smile. I wish i wasnt such a anxious mess when i went for a laporoscoy which is just minoe surgery last year i was terrible I am sure they knocked me out quicker to shut me up! i will just be so releived when i wake up in that recovery room.
good luck for tommorow aswel
Hi rachele, good luck with your mx. I too was like you leading up to mine, kept thinking I was having my last day on earth and was telling my husband where the Xmas presents had been hidden! Id never had a GA before and got into a bit of a state the morning of the surgery, however the anaesthetist was fantastic and managed to keep me calm. Like Jill said, once you come round you won’t believe how quick it was and you’ll be given a nice cup of tea. Keep us updated on how you get on xx
Good luck today ladies.Hope you get an early slot to get it over with sooner rather than later .
Thanks everyone I am lying on the trolley with my sexy stockings on. I am in this afternoon so I took the larazopam after having a emotional breakdown when they stuck the needle in for the Senintal node biopsy. Xxx
Rachaele I am home having had MX and snb on weds last week. I was so frightened but honestly it really really wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought. One minute I was chatting to surgeon about cling film! Next I was waking up to a lovely smiley face and was starving and had tea and toast. It honestly isn’t a big deal at all…I promise you. Home being pampered and looked after and making sure you rest is essential afterwards…I overdid it yesterday and am tired today. I know you’ll be fine and yes it’s a relief afterwards but make sure you reward yourself too. Let us know how you go. Big hugs! I was exactly the same and I wouldn’t now hesitate about doing it all again.
Thanks everyone for lightening the mood! I’m in for MX and DIEP on Weds… we are so blessed to have NHS staff who listen to our blethering pre and post GA, well and at other times too.
Every best wish to this week’s MXers, and keep posting.
I completely calm (not) and just had to drive 50 mile round trip for yet another blood test, but glad they are being thorough.

I made it through surgery I was shaking and crying in the anaesthetic room but let my mum come with me she held my hand she distracted me telling them to tell them about my French bulldog puppy who I love. They told me I wouldn’t feel anything from the local which they gave me and said could last up to 36 hours …hmm that’s lie I’m feeling a lot but bearable just pleased it’s all over. My heart rate is higher than normal is this normal after surgery maybe for a anxious person like me. They did a reduction on my left healthy side as have big heavy breasts and already I’m amazed through the bandages and my mastectomy side is tiny as have a tissue expanded for now. Thanks for all your messages was eating a prawn sandwich Within half a hour of waking up nothing seems to spoil my appetite haha.
Xx
Oh and I asked the nurses when I came round when we were going to Ibiza haha x
Well done Rachelle, I’m sure the nurses hear lots of funny things from when patients come round! Make sure you rest and look after yourself xx
Well done Rachele, so pleased you’re doing so well. Take it easy now, and get home soon, xx
Well done Rachelle, hope you are not too uncomfortable today and you managed to get some sleep.
Thanks I’m ok it is bearable pain didn’t get much sleep just to all the chaos that goes on in the ward and them taking my blood pressure every 2 hours also had a leakage from my reduction side and they thought I may have To go back to surgery to take some swelling done thankfully they said they didn’t need to this thank goodness I could have not coped.
I’m so relieved this part is over but my mind is focuses on the results of this it’s such a scary wait. They took 5 lymph nodes for testing xx
Thanks you too. I have been given codene phosphate make me feel a bit yacky tho. My pain is up and down but does feel intense just can’t wait to get the drain out and the dressings off.
