Scared to death

Tomorrow is my anniversary. I had my surgery one year ago. Stage 1 grade 3 oestrogen positive herceptin positive. One year ago I had no idea what the last sentence meant. 6 Chemotherapies and 15 radiotherapies later I am back at work and getting used to having hair again. Herceptin once every 3 weeks for a year is a wlk in the park. Then last week I began passing blood in my stools. Is it back? Do I have bowel cancer now? I am due to see my doctor at my next herceptin injection on friday - should I wait that long?

HiTeiamea

Cant really offer you any advice just hate it when I post and am frightened I just need to know someone is out there. I am sure that very soon one of the ladies will be on here to offer you advice. Have you tried to use the search button at the top of the page to see if anything comes up? I thought I noticed a thread recently about Herceptin and bleeding I will have a look and try to post the thread to you.

Sending you loads of love and hugs

Hi Teiamea

Like Karen, I can’t really offer any hard advice. There are obviously many reasons why you may be suffering these symptoms, other than than a recurrence of the cancer. This is not listed as one of the side effects of herceptin.
Do you still have contact with your breast nurse - if so could you give her a ring to ask about it. Not sure what your GP surgery is like but my GP will ring me back as possible if I ring to speak to him - maybe this is an option prior to Friday, if only to ease your worry?

Sorry I coldn’t be more helpful - hope you get this sorted

take care

Hi Teiamea

Sorry I have hunted back through the threads and also on the other site but to no avail, its now going to bug me. If all else fails and you need someone tonight could you ring the NHS direct line and even if they cant help maybe the could point you in the right direction.

Sorry I cant be of more help

Sending Hugs

Hello Teiamea
What an awful worry for you. I can’t offer any advice but am wondering if the blood is bright red? If so then there’s a good chance it could be piles.
I do hope you get some reassurance soon.

hi

hope you get the reassurance you need. i was paranoid that my cancer had spread too but i was told by my oncologist that breast cancer when it does come back usually goes to brain, liver bones or lungs - no mention of bowel so sure it’s not secondary recurrence. i would speak to bc nurse and make sure some gives you the reassurance you need that it’s not cancer. i always find nhs direct website helpful for putting my mind at rest. wishing you well. carrie
