Scared witless!

I’m going back to see the consultant tommorow after my second WLE and SNB.
I’m scared witless he’s going to give me bad news. Does anyone have any tips on how to cope with the waiting??

Ahhhh!
Jilly

It’s awful isn’t it. I don’t have any tips because I am just as bad. I went for my 18 monthly mammogram last Wednesday and I am now not sleeping and just waiting for the post to bring me bad news I don’t know how you surmount it - I can’t seem to manage it - Hope all goes well for you.

Hi Jilly,

I had a t-shirt many years ago which read -“When the going gets tough the tough go shopping!” - I’ve not had enough energy yet to really go mad but shopping for really soft bras has helped and Christmas is coming…

Sorry I can’t give you more support to help you through your wait

Best wishes

Hello Jilly
I’m afraid there’s no magic cure for the nerves, or we’d all be taking it all the time. the only way i have to deal with these things is keeping busy - usually doing stupid, pointless things. So when the brain works, it’s solitaire on the computer or a sudoku puzzle and when it doesn’t it’s polishing the draining board or trying to pull the loose hairs out of the cat (don’t worry, no cruelty involved). It’s taken me a while, but now I understand that it’s OK to completely waste the day like this and also that it’s OK to get up if I can’t sleep. Walking helps too and when I can sleep it’s better for the exercise.
Thinking of you tomorrow and hope it’s good news - you’ve been through enough.

Thank you all for your lovely messages.
I got some good news today. The cancer hasn’t spread to the lymph nodes so
no more surgery!!! Have got my promotion to the rads league and am looking forward to my Tamoxifen induced flushes = )
I will be thinking of you all. keep smiling (it makes them wonder what you’re up to)

Hi Jilly,

Congratulations on your new diagnosis - I’m in the same boat I hope (although there’s no evidence yet from pathology to support non-lymph node involvement) - began taking Tamoxifen 2 days ago and waiting for appointment with oncologist for radiotherapy.

Good luck
