Scared!

Feeling sort of scared, I had my mastectomy in May and during my stay in hospital had awful urine infection, then again a few months later and during my stay in hospital last week for low white blood cells i have awful pain and bleeding from my bladder.

I have been booked in for a camera test to look at my bladder under general anesthetic tomorrow, i will have to stay in over night. They said my bladder walls are very thick (stupid bladder!) . You can all imagine what i am thinking without me having to say, I know i just need to wait for the results but it is scary.

Roll on tomorrow afternoon so i can get it over with and get the results. Hopefully just trauma from UTI’s not anything more nasty.

Hi Gaynor,

I am sorry to hear of your worries but it is good that you can express them.

If it is of any help I don’t think it will be the cancer spreading to your bladder, its not a usual place. I truly think it will turn out to be a UTI which needs a good sorting out!

I hope you can get a fairly good nights sleep, we all know how waiting can put a spanner in to sleeping patterns.

Good luck for tomorrow, my fingers are crossed, or should that be legs crossed?

Take care
Carol

Hi Gaynor,
If it helps, I too had probs with my bladder - repeat infections and blood in urine. I was told that it was due to a combination of the epirubicin which is strongly irritant to the bladder and the urinary tract (as well as everything else) and the fact that my immune system was non-existent hence infections got hold easily and would just not let go. I have finished my chemo and two weeks ago and even now I feel that it is beginning to settle down - I do not have to go to the loo all the time and the last course of ABs I had seemed to have lifted the infection which so far has not come back. It is hard not to worry but hope all sorted for u 2 moro, good luck with that. Don’t 4get that cranberry juice can really soothe UTIs!

Thanks Carol.

Anoush, i think you were right, i got back home today and all the results were clear, they said my bladder was probably just upset form infections and chemo and just needs time to settle down. HUGE RELIEF.

Been drinking galleons of cranberry juice, surprised i haven’t turned pink! LOL.

Excellent news Gaynor,

You were right to get things checked out though even if you have to got to hell and back playing the waiting game.

Enjoy the cranberry juice!

Carol

Hi Gaynor

Just caught up with this thread. Am so glad that your news was good, and you were so right to get checked out even though it was so very worrying.

Well done you.
