Am just started chemo-6x FEC and wondering if there is anyone in this area who would like to share experiences and possibly meet for coffee? Have been posting on the forums and found it really helpful but miss having someone closer in similar situation-it’s quite an isolating experience!
Morning Elsie,
I have sent you a private message.
I have just joined this forum after newly diagnosed with BRACA1 on Friday. I have lengthy family history of BC and although I have always had that ‘gut’ feeling I could have the mutation, I am devastated and shocked to have it confirmed. I’m quite taken aback at how I have reacted to the news because I really believed I was ready to have it confirmed. Just awaiting surgical dates for removal of ovaries and breasts. I’m sure this forum will be a wealth of information and support. Hopefully we can chat soon ![]()
Morning Fairylovinglife!
I think I have posted a private reply but let me know if it’s not there as I haven’t done one of those before! x
Hi Fairylovinglife!
Just bringing this one back up-did you get my message from earlier this week? Lynne x
Hi Elsie, I’m from Aberdeenshire and wondered how you were getting on with your treatment. I was diagnosed a few weeks ago and am just waiting for an appointment with the onc to start chemo and rads
Hi All I am also from AB post code I seem to be a bit further on than you Have finished mastectomy reconstruction chemo and radio and am waiting to get my implant taken out as it has gone hard and is very painfull but don’t have an appointment untill the 1st June to see plastic surgeon Its never ending Hope you are all doing well Don’t know how to leave personal messages but will try and find out
Best wishes to all Kaye x
Hi, Just wondering what chemo you had,i am doing the epi/cmf just going for my 2nd course of cmf next week, what grade did you have, i had a masectomey in December, should be finished my treatment aroung July all been well if my bloods are ok take care jackiex
Hi Linda, Kaye and Jackie!
I had almost given up on this posting, and just happened to check it by chance, so glad to hear from you ladies!
I had a grade 3, no lymph involvement, and just finished 6x FEC on Wednesday-hence the time of this posting as I am going through the steroid induced sleepless spell!
Now have to wait for 3 weeks or so for app with onc, then referral for rads, which I have been told I will have 5 weeks of. Depending on where you all are in the shire, it means an hours drive in and back for about 2 minutes worth of treatment, so not looking forward to that, esp with the parking nonsense at ARI!!
Linda, good luck with your app-remember to write down all your questions-do you know who you are seeing? I had DR Todd and she was really nice-nothing too trivial and gives you time to go away and think about things if you need to.
It took me a while to work out how to do pm, but it comes up on your profile to alert you that you have a message. Give it a go Kaye and I will check-would like to know where you are in Ab?
Jackie, when are you next in? You got Danny for onc nurse?
Anyway, off to try and get some shuteye before OH gets up for golf!

Hi Lynne Linda and Jackie
Really pleased to hear from you Lynne
I had multifocal (2 bits) grade 2 & 3 and 7 out of 18 lymph nodes affected - 3 Fec 3 Tax chemo and 4 weeks of rads. I was lucky my son lives in Aberdeen so I stayed with him and went home at weekend. Parking is a pig isn’t it?! I’ve only seen Dr Todd once she was really nice! Danny is brilliant as well makes you feel good and the other nurses are lovely too makes the experience easier!
I’ll try the profile page - sure I’ll learn!!!
Hope you’re sleeping better - the steroids do wear off eventually!!!
Best wishes to all
Hear from you soon I hope

Hi all, I was originally diagnosed grade 1, had lumpectomy and sentinal node. No lymph involvement but reclassified to gr 3. Now wonder if they wd have given me mastectomy if they had known. Had my first fec on Friday. Was fine over the weekend but feeling a bit queasy today. Still much better than I thought though.
Can’t remember my onc’s name (chemo brain already!!!) But it isn’t Dr Todd.
FairyLL - what is BRACA1?

Hi Linda, and all,
Like you Linda I was diagnosed originally as grade 2, but after WLE and SNB rediagnosed to a 3 with no clear margin so had to have a reexcision, but at no time was a mastectomy mentioned. At the time I wondered if it might have been better but now when I see how little disfiguration I have I am quite glad as it is one less thing to contend with.
Not sure who the other cons oncs are, but I have my review with Doc Todd on 12th June, so no doubt it will come round quick enough.
Like you I was fine after the 1st FEC and in fact wondered what all the fuss was about…had to change my mind after number 4 and the last 3 were certainly harder with the build up of chemicals in your system. However it is doable-are you using the cold cap? I did and my hair has held on-thinner but still there, so although it wasn’t pleasant from my point of view it was worth it.
Where in the shire are you? I am in Turriff.
Kaye, I replied to the email to pm you so let me know if it worked (I did say I am not too hot with computers-lol!)
Well daylight creeping in and birds starting to chirp so I should maybe get a bit of shuteye-have to be up early to work today, but that’s a whole other story!
Speak soon ladies,
hugz,
Lynne xx

Hi!to all you ladies from Aberdeenshire where I also live. It is so strange to see all your posts mentioning Dr Todd and Danny. I completed all my treatment last Nov 2008 after lumpectomy/chemo/rads and am currently on arimidex, it’s amazing how quickly it all passes and you come out the other side. Danny was the best and it was his support, reassurance and honesty that convinced me to “do the chemo” I was scared rigid by it all. Anyway nice to hear that there are other buddies locally and I wish you well throughout your treatments.
