Secondaries in airways? Anyone else?

Hi, a frightened newbie to secondaries but been following posts for years

I had primary in 2007 (chemo mx rads recon tamoxifen). Then in last 3 months have been getting more and more short of breath (treated for asthma) and now I can’t walk 30m without stopping. Finally ended up having scans as concerned about blood clot and they spottedbones mets (- now full scan shows its in spine hips sternum).

But they are still struggling to determine the cause of the breathing issue. Lung x-Ray and ct scans don’t seem to be ‘conclusive’ … I’m a ‘conundrum’ apparently.

After a lung function test it seems the problem is in my airways. But I was an asthma sufferer and the lung people said still could be asthma so I am on steroids again for 2 weeks (1 week in and not working) if that doesn’t change things I’ll be on chemo next week and they will be concluding it’s the cancer.

I think this is rare? Does anyone here have the same? I don’t understand why they can’t see it in the airways on scans though?

Off now for a wet and blustery weekend to Bournemouth with my fiancé - happy weekend everyone.

Hi Helen

I hope you had a good weekend in Bournemouth and it wasn’t all wet and blustery.

I am sorry that you have joined the secondary group but know that you have joined a group of amazing women who are incredibly supportive of one another.  Have you considered joining the private secondary group?  if you click on the link and then request to join the moderators will action that for you.  The secondary private group cannot be seen or read by anyone who is not an invited member and it is only for women who have been diagnosed with secondary breast cancer.

Best wishes

Hi Helen,

im so sorry this has happened to you and that they can’t fit you into a neat category. I’ve never heard of this before, and I’m an old hand on these forums! (Diagnosed with primary and secondaries in 2007).  It must be so bewildering and frustrating not knowing exactly what’s going on inside. Im surprised they’re going for chemo without being certain what’s causing your breathlessness but I guess they have exhausted all the other possible diagnoses. Really hoping the steroids start to make a difference before the two weeks are up.

hope you had a lovely weekend away,

keep us posted
