Secondary Breast Cancer Awareness Day update

Secondary Breast Cancer Awareness Day update

13 October is Secondary Breast Cancer Awareness Day and earlier this year we asked service users and Breast Cancer Voices with secondary breast cancer what they though of our plans for this year’s day - the production a collection of practical tips about living with secondary breast cancer, written by people with a secondary diagnosis. This idea originated from a group of women with secondary breast cancer who’d found information hard to come by, and wanted to share the little things they’d found useful to help others in a similar situation. The resulting collection of practical tips is now available at breastcancercare.org.uk/secondary

Developed in consultation with people with secondary breast cancer, our project user group and clinical nurse specialists, we hope this new resource will help meet some of the often unmet information needs of people living with secondary breast cancer. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed a tip to our website. We hope this will grow beyond the day itself, so please visit and add your own tip at breastcancercare.org.uk/secondary

We’ll also be launching a printed collection of the tips at an informal book launch in London on Monday 10 October - please join us if you can. Also planned for this year’s awareness day is a campaign event in parliament to be held on the day itself. Find details of both events at breastcancercare.org.uk/secondary
