secondary cancer in distant lymphnodes

Hi
just wondered if anyone had secondaries in distant lymphnodes and if so have any specific symptons? I have other mets but also have lump under right arm and neck
which have been confirmed as secondaries, the primary bc is in left breast.
Anyone similar?

Sorry to hear about your spread.
My first secondary was in my right armpit whereas my original bc was left breast and lymph nodes. I found this little because it hurt me and was only about 1cm. The oncs and onc radiography cons thought it was innocent but sadly it wasn’t.
I also have lymphangitis (lymph system )in my lungs which means that i get short of breath quickly as it makes my lungs inflexible and so the oxygen exchange when I breathe is poor. One of my friends also had lymph involvement in her lungs which became nodular and she had no symptoms.
My last ct scan (oct 07) was inconclusive if I had lymph involvement in my pelvis. Again I have no pain but occasionally my ankles swell but the oncs think it is my heart but as it is always better after chemo and worsens when I am due the next chemo I’m not so sure.
What a depressing list I’ve written.
Wherever there is a blood supply, there is a lymph supply so I suppose anywhere could potentially involve lymph involvement - now I’ve really scared everyone but I think it wouldn’t hurt unless it was pressing on a nerve but I may be wrong.
Presumably, you’re having treament for your secomdaries. Hope all is going well for you.

Hi Liz,
My primary cancer is in my left breast and I too have secondary spread to my lymph glands under left arm and neck.Mine has also spread to my liver.I have HER2 cells which unfortunately are fast spreading.
I have swelling under my arm and neck and because of this the tendon running down my arm felt like it was pulling(like an elastic band)which was a bit uncomfortable. This went after my first Chemo though.
I also developed DVT in my left clavical area a few weeks ago which is all related to this and cancer in general I think.
What other mets do you have Liz?

To Kate and Alli
thanx for your replies I’ve had taxotere and now on herceptin I’m having a scan in June to see how I am on Herceptin alone. Other mets are in ribs and very small met in liver which at last scan after tax was clear.

I have read up on bone and liver mets but couldn’t find any info on lymph node mets.
Just like to know what I’m dealing with.

Thanks again

Lymph glands too for me - one of them is pressing on my kidneys, so that can cause symptons. Other than that, it doesn’t seem so. All other symptons are due to other (non-lymph) mets, so lymph seems realtively low impact in comparison. Good luck with Herceptin!
