When I last left a posting I was feeling really down three years after diagnosis. I happened to read an article about a clinical hypnotherapist close to where I live and decided to give it a go. I had my first appointment this week and will go for my first session next week.
He asked me very gently about why I had gone to him, (he has many years experience in helping ladies with BC) and after talking to him he summed up my feelings (and I suppose thousands of other women) and I felt very confident that he can help me.
PS I also joined the dreaded WWatchers and have lost 5lb in two weeks…bikini here I come!!!
I had 10 sessions with a hypnotherapist at Vine House in Preston about 3 years ago and found them really beneficial. I had previously been rather sceptical about hypnotherapy but they certainly helped to get rid of some of my angst. I did become quite distressed in some of the sessions but felt much better afterwards.
I hope all goes well for you hypnotherapy and weightwise.
A fellow patient I know went for hypnotherapy 3 or 4 days before every chemotherapy dose and she found it enormously helpful.
I was eventually persuaded to try it to help with sleep issues (had just about finished chemotherapy by then) but after 3 sessions decided my money would be better spent elsewhere.
It’s good when these therapies work for people though and I’d still give anything (within reason) a try.
I had 6 lots of hypnotherapy at a special cancer centre and I have to say it didn’t do any good! The problem is you have to totally relax and be receptive to it which I wasn’t!!!
