Semi permanent make up

Hi, so diagnosis date was 23rd March… Chemotherapy looking to start at end of May. Freaking out about losing my hair and being sick! Anyway, I’m looking at semi permanent make up to try and make myself look as near to normal as possible with as little effort as possible! I’ve looked at SPMU, has anyone else had this done? Or have any other recommendations? X

I was diagnosed in September 2014.  Had my semi permanent tatoos done in December and started chemo in January 2015.

I cannot recommend it enough!  The lady I used was so talented.  I was sure to have it done before I started so she knew exactly where my eyebrows were.  It is a good job I had it done, as they have come back very sparse, and I have always had good eyebrows.  They are showing no signs of fading either.

I think missing eyebrows and lashes can change your face completely and makes you look really ill.

I am really pleased I had it done and would recommend finding a very talented person to do it, look for reviews and recommendations because it is gonna be on your face for AGES.

Thank you. I totally agree, I don’t want to look poorly, being bald will be bad enough! I’ve had a look through reviews and the lady I found looks to be very good. Here goes nothing! X

Hi Michelle hope you are ok. I can imagine you are worried sick about chemo.
I’m still waiting to find out about mine - but looking likely.
I feel exactly the same as you about hair, eyebrows etc. What are you going to do about your lashes? Xxxx

I had semi permanent eyebrows done and have been delighted with the result, well worth the money x

I am terrified about Chemo and worrying about my looks could appear trivial to the outside world but it’s really important to me. For my boys to see me as not completely changed and looking unwell. I’m 32 and this shouldn’t even be happening to me!! (Sorry, angry day today…) Not sure about lashes, could go false but I have read how they can be irritating. I’ve seen some You Tube videos on how to draw on lashes which looked good but will probably take a bit of practice! T minus 12 days until they remove the lump! Xx

Michelle, it’s bloody unfair and yes you shouldnt be having to deal with this especially at your age, rant away it a **bleep** situation to be in.  I am an old bird  (48) compared to you and I completely  get where your coming from, got botoxed and eyebrows done and found myself apologising to my surgeon for appearing vain and shallow (had to check it was ok before it could be done) with the “small matter” of a cancer diagnosis , he just grinned and said go for it lol. To some women it is not important to me it is, no one in work ever sees me without make up and the hair is cut/coloured every 7 weeks and I am quite devastated this is going to change. It us about normality and I am worried  about how my children  will react and at this point it’s the eyelashes  that are really bothering me!

There is another thread about eyelashes  that sue has put some great links in. Xxx

Michelle I’m only 35 so I do understand where you are coming from. It bloody does suck!
I’m still waiting on my results to confirm the cancer so I can start treatment.
Xxx

Hi Michelle sorry don’t know anything about make-up but did buy some eyebrows online which I ended up never using. But what really saved my sanity was www.heathershair.co.uk a charity that provides hair weaves to wear under a hat. I had thin hair before chemo so my very full wig just felt alien to me, but was so thankful for my HH weave that I ended up wearing everyday. All the best on your treatment. I hope you find a manageable routine.

Hi Michelle, sorry to hear about your diagnosis!!!

In answer to your question, I was diagnosed in November and had semi permanent eyeliner done before my surgery. So glad I had it done, when I was feeling rubbish and didn’t want to fuss with make-up it just made me look a bit brighter.

I would say go for it!!!

Good luck for your treatment process xxxx

Go for it!!!
