Hello, I have not had low white blood cells or neutrophils, but I have had skin rash on back of head, very, very dry eyes, which effects my vision and horrendous bladder urgency, I get up every 1 to 1.5 hrs during the night. I had inflamed balls of feet last time. Hope this helps put your mind to rest in some areas. Jane
Thanks all for your celebrations - obviously the good news day was followed by a day of wipeout on the sofa just to keep me humble!!
Hope you are all having an ok week - I start cycle 3 on Friday so just spending my time hydrating, resting and getting ready for my long day.
Kx
The bladder urgency drove me mad until I tried cysta purin, I took 1 in the morning and 1 at night for 3 days and now I can go 4 hrs!! It’s the little things we celebrate!!
I hope you hear from the helpline soon.
I used salt water mouthwash for a while but eventually was prescribed Corsodyl. It could be thrush which I was prescribed Nystan. For dry eyes I was given Carbomer gel which is also known as Viscotears gel, they help to moisture your eyes.
I had terrible bladder urgency and it didn’t help with the amount of water I needed to drink during chemo. I also suffered tinnitus which got better after my treatment finished.
Take care

Absolutely brilliant news!!! Good luck on round 3 of EC, I have just had round 3 and actually been pretty good

Good morning ladies! Thanks so much for the tips on this forum - I also am suffering bladder urges and need to go to the loo ridiculously often - a nightmare when I’m trying to avoid public loos but also am trying to be outside to get my steps in! I’ll be trying cystopurin this cycle for sure!
I have my 3rd EC tomorrow - so today I’m taking a laxative in preparation and will be taking laxatives for the first few days of the cycle.
@cridders -is your infusion tomorrow EC?
@healed - how are you feeling? I did have a red face rash after my 2nd EC chemo - apparently this is a very common side effect of the steroids …
Hi, thanks so much for the replies and suggestions
I do feel reassured.
Thanks @story1, I’ll try the CystoPurin too. I’ve got Nystan from my GP and I bought Hylo Forte eye drops but I’ll try Viscotears. My trust don’t prescribe anything, you have to see your GP or buy OTC. They suggested urea cream for the soles of the feet problem, painkillers for the migraine type aura and I’ll go to Boots to get an eye check for the vision. Although I’m worried to go out with my low blood count. I’ll treat myself to a nice soothing face cream for the rash:)
Happy your EC3 went well Jane xx and hope your EC3 goes smoothly too, @anim4l. Xx
Would you be able to get some migraine medication on prescription? I use frivotriptan and my oncologist said I can carry on using it xx
Has anyone had a bloody nose? I noticed my nostrils really dry but if I blow it’s bloody, not a bleed just blood on tissue.
Hope everyone is having a good day, and not too uncomfortable, I find it tricky to know when to call the nurses, if it’s a major side effect or just common. To me everything is new and weird and sometimes terrifying. The bladder thing freaked me out but seems to have resolved now. Then the bowel thing scared me and I seem to have got that under control. Just waiting for the next surprise to bite me in the ass.
On we go xxx

I have lots of nose bleeds… oncologist said it’s due to lack of nose hair and the cells in your nose also being impacted by the chemo. I was told if they don’t stop after a couple of minutes then need to get in contact.
Hi @anim4l no, I am on weekly paclitaxol and three weekly carbo and pembro and start cycle 3 of this on Friday so it will be my long day. I start EC on cycle 5.
I got prescribed dioctyl for constipation as a preventative so I take one a day every day which seems to have lessens the symptoms this week.
Yes, definitely! Gastric, fullness, bloating, heartburn, lower back pain and others. Some definitely from the injections and some I’m unsure whether it’s the chemo or not.
I got that after first, (face neck upper chest) and again after second but less so.
So many effects and decisions.
Hi all, sorry I don’t check in often then get overwhelmed with all the posts xx
Am a week after 2nd chemo, felt lot irritability and fatigue first couple days then over the week it’s been a mixture of 'vertigo like ‘spaciness’, internal ‘quivering’ of the gut, lots burping, bloating and stomach discomfort, nerve pain and cramps in feet, half hour rainbow visual aura (the anti sickness med says can cause visual disturbance), plus have felt easily fatigued and then the lower back pain I experienced with the filgrastim last time moved down to the coccyx. Hair almost gone, wig fine.
Feeling bit fed up as everything I eat seems to set off abdominal discomfort, enjoyed plain chicken but had some sweetcorn and peas with it, then loads tummy unease.
My sickness leave is up next week, I wanted back to work but chemo 3 is due the week after, then I’ve the final 3 weekly one then weekly for 12. I don’t know what to do, try return part of time or ask doctor for longer time off.
I’m just fed up trying to figure it all out.
Sorry for moaning, wishing everyone a good week xx
I had a bloody and sore nose. Defo worth a call. Nose is usually part of our immune defence systems and with hair loss and bleeding it’s not optimal. My unit prescribed me naceptin (antibiotic cream) for it, and it’s really cleared it up too. X
That all sounds rotten. X
Re sickness leave. I’m on a “may be fit for work” note. So it’s not actually counted as sickness at my workplace. But I am working hugely reduced hours, it saves me from the financial hit - obviously everyone has different terms and conditions- but hoping that might work for you.
Do think about calling macmillan helpline too - they are really clued up on the work and cancer scenarios and support xx
My sister gave me this for inside my nose
I have a sick note running from the start to the end of my chemo - 5 months in total. I’ll probably be off until the end of my treatment in the summer - our sick pay is a generous scheme. Given my brain fog my boss is aware I’d be a liability at work (I’m a solicitor), I’m popping in online for the odd team meeting just to stay in touch. I definitely am not energetic enough to be working even half days.
I’m fortunate to have a really understanding department who are encouraging me to take the time off and focus on keeping as well as I can during treatment. I’m going to do online Pilates shortly , went for an afternoon walk with a friend this afternoon, and have just taken movicol (fibre powder) in preparation for EC tomorrow - the nurses suggested I take it the day before
Thank you @anim4l xxx
