September 2017 Chemo Starters

Fairydust
So glad to hear how well today went! Now rest up andenjoy more TV.
Talking about men, I forgot to mention my two hunky bodyguards at the hospital last week! Its always good to see a bit of eye candy!!!

You so need a cat???

Been to work tonight and had a load of regulars in and my friend who lost her husband last week came in. It was very emotional but she did very well. She asked me to go to the get together after the funeral but I dont think I will as it will be too sad for me with this treatment.

Anyway, tired now so see you ladies tomorrow.xx

Colposcopy result came rhrough the post today and thank goodness its good news?
No evidence of high grade CIN, CGIN, or invasive neoplasia but will have a smear in one year!

Theres not been a day go by without me thinking of this! I dreaded having the smear, then the colposcopy and then the results! Now, I can fully concentrate on treatment. Phew!!!

Have alarm guys in atm to sort flood lights and update alarm and a lot of drilling going on but glad its being done for peace of mind.

Although theres still a long journey, I have a smile on my face. Its funny how certain things can make you smile goung through treatment. I hope we all get more smiles ladies. Lots of love.xxx

You’ve had to wait a long time for those results! Great boost x

Fairydust - glad th chemo went ahead

Ck - great results, what a relief for you

Xxx

Well, had a lovely day with my 4yr old, Carys. My partner is working and my 6 yr old went to Eureka with rainbows.
Carys and I have been to the library, health food shop, had a lovely walk and played games at home. She is such easy company and we’ve laughed lots!
I might even treat myself to a glass of wine tonight! Its been ages since I indulged and I think my taste buds won’t reject it today.

Only 5 days till round 5 so making the most of my feeling of wellness.

How are you doing, Mrs M and blue lizard?
Hope things are improving daily
Xx

Thats great news CK and a huge relief. No wonder you are smiling xx

Thanks ladies regards Colposcopy results! Unfortunately though after rhe good news I have developed thrush down below so have Canesten Pessary and External Cream:0 Also have slight Cellulitus around my eyes and 2 patches on my arm so have Fusidic Acid Cream for this. These will hopefully clear up soon. This chemo does make you wonder what next:0:0

Other than that in good spirits resting up tonight, looking forward to my 8 week course tomorrow where I have counselling, reflexology, lunch and mindfulness. I loom forward to this every week!

I’ve had a good weekend at work and took my friend (who lost her husband only 53 last week) to a Christmas event with lots of stalls just to get her out of the house. We had a lovely time although everything reminded her of him. I also felt a bit emotional as it reminded me that I will be recovering from SE of my last cycle on Christmas week so no partying for me, but hopefully can be in work on Xmas Eve night!

Cathysid
How strange, I had a glass of Rose and lemonade yesterday after being off alcohol altogether throughout treatment! I did enjoy it!
I miss shopping with my daughter as at Uni, but bit worried about being amidst all the crowds and rosking infection so just as well. Glad you are feeking good.xx

I hope all you ladies are as good as can be and hope the last couple of treatments will be nice and smooth with the least SE.

Monday TV over in South Manchester is quite good so glad I’m glad I’m not in work!

Hope you all have a restful night.xxx

Hope you are feeling better CK…day 14 for me and feeling good xx

Well, bloods tomorrow and chemo Thursday but I have a horrible cold and tickley throat so don’t know if it will go ahead as planned, or not. Really tired today too. Temperature has been ok.
My friend with leukaemia died on Sunday, so maybe the stress and worry has got on top of me. So sad :frowning: it makes me grateful to have a cancer that has so many more successful treatment options, and allows me to be treated as an outpatient rather than being isolated on a hospital ward for the duration of treatment.

Time to get the kids from school,
Glad you are over the worst, Ali
Cx

Jow,
I get very dizzy and a weird stuck in my head type of feeling after T. I usually feel better by day 14 though. Report it to your team, they might reduce the dose a bit for the next one.
Hope it improves soon xxx

Cathysid i am so sorry to hear about your friend. It is so sad!! I hope you are ok.

I am dreading the T. I dreaded the fec but have not been too bad but docetaxol.seems a whole new kettle of fish!

Hoping you turn a corner tomorrow Jow because it is the thought o a good week that ketps us going xx

I’ve found that my nose and eyes are quite runny but another thought … I complained to my optician last year about my eyes running a lot and he said that they were doing it because ironically they were dry. He suggested that I bought a dry eye mist. I use the Boots one it’s not cheap £12 a bottle but lasts a fair while and it has really helped.

Hi Cathysid, sorry to hear about your friend and your cold. Ive had a few sniffles and a runny nose but realised it was because all my nasal hair have gone! I alzo had dry eyes and just Optrex eye drips helped. All the best for treatment tomorrow.x

Jow, going to work keeps me sane. I can go in on my good days which is usually after one week of treatment. I organise events for my good weeks and hope for the best.

Tomorrow night we have a Psychic Nite on and will raise for the Cancer Care Centre I visit every Tuesday. Yesterday I relaxed so much there I was really tired by 9pm. I had 45 mins counselling, 45 mins reflexology, lunch, 45 mins relaxation and then 45 mins group chat about adapting and adjusting after treatment. It was a very good topic to cover and I was with some very inspirational ladies who have had C 2 or 3 times! I’m sure one big worry is if it will come back! Im not sure yet if it has sunk in about how serious it is what we are going through but whatever we have we just have to find ways to get through it as easily as possible and hope for the best!

I also bought a few Xmas prezzies there knowing the profits will go to them too!

Last week we covered self talk and telling ourselves how well we are doing rather than put ourselves down. It does help if we can! I talk to myself a lot nowadays! Try it!

The thrush went after one day! How clever the Pessary is! The cellulitus is slighgtly better on my cheekbones but the 2 patches on my arm will take a while more as they did blister.
This chemo does challenge us not knowing how it will affect us but I still keep thinking that at least its doing its job! If no SEs I would be worried why I guess.

Anyway, bedtime. Hope you all have a good night! Sweet dreams.xx

Hi Ali
I know what you mean about being worried about Docetaxol. I was double worried as I started Herceptin too the day before but both have been manageable and although every cycle can bring different SE’s the main one that stood out was the severe aches and pains from my back, up my neck to my head and my legs (practically everywhere) I also had GCSF injections which give pain too! But I took an Epsom salt baths from day one b4 pain came and had one every night u til day 8. By then the pains had become less! The pains were controlled by Ibroprofen and Paracetomol and walks when I could.
I has 3 sleepless nights from the steroids but after that sleeping pattern was normal! But I have been more tired with this one and I guess we get more tired after each cycle.
During the first week I did have a dry mouth, funny taste in mouth, skin becoming more dry, nails slightly dark at nail bed despite dark nail polish, slight buzzing in head (chemi daze) and ear ache!
I had a few sniffle and runny nose and realised all ny nasal hairs have gone.Still have eyebrows!
On day 12 I got thrush and a few patches of cellulitus, both under control but as we have more trestment our immune system gets weaker so these niggly things may happen.
Temperature is something I needed to keep an eye on! It has been as high a few times and as high as 38.2 but windows open, top layer off, my hand fan and Ibroprofen made it go down again each time. So must make sure your thermometer is with you at all times. I would advise you to moisturise your skin every night after baths and showers even if it doesnt feel dry!
Appetite has as usual been good! This time, salads,
Smoked salmon and avocado, pasta, spaghetti, English brekkies have been faves!

So apart from the aches and pains and high temps this cycle took a couple more days to feel normal but more manageable than I had anticipated:)

My mood did go a bit low though with the death of my friend and the thrush and cellulitus but I’ve picked up again and hopefully can have 6 good days b4 cycle 5.

Lots of love.xx

Thanks Ck that is really helpful - as always!!

Did you phone up when your temp went up?

I dread the pains but have got my epsom salts ready.

I keepbthinking i dreaded the Fec and i have got through it so i will do the same withvthe new stuff!

Hope you feel better again today xx

Thanks ck, Ali when is your 1st t due providing bloods are ok? Are you just before me, mines due Dec 7. Just as we are getting used to the fec we are changing to t for the last 3. Still some other strong amazing ladies have had to do 4x4 so not complaining we got a 3x3 at all. Have a good day everyone and hope se’s ease ??:sparkles::sparkles:shi xx

Hi Ali
Thats rhe best way to think! I dreaded the first EC and it was manageable and the next 2 were too so I was hoping Docetaxol would be too! I still have 2 more and as we know each cycle is different but each time we learn how to deal and look out for stuff! Plenty of rest is a must though and take a soak whatever time of day it is! I usually had mine at night as it helped me to sleep better.
My V pillow deffo worked its wonders this time and now and rhen when I felt breathless and had pains I slept higher up with 2 pillows and my V pillow on top.
Thrush all cleared up now, which was a bugger after getting good Colposcopy results and Cellulitus under control.

Looking forward to Psychic night at work and off to buy stock innabit!

Had kippers and toast for brekkie today! Merlot not interested in fish which is strange for a cat but he just turned his nose up! He prefers steak, pork and chicken but he likes wotsits and digestive biscuits too???
Hope you all have a restful day.xxx

Thanks Cathysid
I’m doing most and taking most of those apart frim the first capsules and the spray. Where do I get the FC-cidal?
I guess was going to get something sooner or later:0
Yep, resting up now b4 tonight. Keeps me going:)

Ali
I didnt ring in this time as I did previous cycle and they said just to keep an eye on it as usually similar pattern and at night and didnt fancy going to A&E.
First time I went and the temp went down there and they said it may have been a panic attack. So if I dont feel faint or dizzy I wait to see if the Ibroprofen and opening windows and fan help. They did so it saved me gling to A&E at night.xx

Right, sweet potsto soup now after my kippers and tiast this morning.

Have a good day ladies and good luck to this weeks chemo ladies.xxx

Ladies Lesley just posted great photo on Nov thread ???shi xx
