That’s a fab photo @annemanc! Love your outfit! Congratulations on ringing the bell glad you had company and met some lovely ladies.
I have made friends with a woman I met on my first chemo round and we have been for coffee a couple of times and Whatsapo most days. Good to have someone to talk to who understand. Although she has tnc and has had 10
Rounds of chemo and has another 8 to go. Such a long haul! Today ( last round ) round went ok except I had to wait an hour and a half for a seat! So was there almost all day. I didn’t ring the bell but thanked the nurses and went out a side entrance. Had my Christmas jumper on though! Felt ok . I was really tired as I was awake all last night! Must have been the steroids
Feel ok now very flushed and skin so tight. Has been getting worse with each round. Once the steroids wear off after tomorrow that’s when it usually kicks off with nausea , diarrhoea, constipation , pains and fatigue. But glad it’s hopefully last time I have to do this
Hope all went well @frazzledmcsazza for you too! @pinklilli3s hope you are enjoying your break away. Send pics of the markets if you can, have missed going to the Edinburgh ones this year🤗
Last Docetaxel for me tomorrow too, really teary this evening about it all, think it’s knowing it’ll be really busy and probably a long session coupled with the nasty side effects
The skin on my heels hands and cheeks are peeling so smothering myself with creams
Fed up of people telling me it’s not for much longer and it’ll soon be gone but they aren’t living with it now
Best of luck for tomorrow @Craftyj . Mine was today, I’m the weird no man’s land where you know Docetaxel se will hit but when steroids stop. This time I’ve started flucanazole tabs and nystan drops today to see if I can stop horrid thrush mouth before it starts (in hope it doesn’t ruin my Xmas dinner)! Plus difflam mouth wash. Worth a go.
Feels helpful to know that however grim it is it will be the final time. I’ll be thinking of you tomorrow xxxx
Copperycat have you tried udderly smooth with extra urea cream from Amazon? That was a popular cream when we all went through chemo in 2017 quenched the skin really well Shi xx
Glad it went ok despite the wait, massive well done. Hope your skin calms down and the side effects go easy on you. I have a good feeling your scan in new year will be ok too. Xxxxxx
@Craftyj thats how I feel too when people say it’s done now. I feel
It’s not over till it’s over! There is definitely a sense of oh well that’s it now by my family members. Still have MRI and radiotherapy!
Hope all goes well with the Docetaxal today. And you have as good a festive break as you can🤗
Planning a vey sweet Christmas dinner this year as that’s what I crave! So honey carrots and parsnips, lots of cranberry sauce , honey roast ham, and trifle! Never have all these normally, I like savoury that’s if I can eat at all! Just gonna roll with it
Hi frazzledmcsazza, think your time frame is the same as me, had second EC yesterday and also reacting badly to the PICC line dressings, very blistered and intensely itchy. It’s horrible isn’t it? Can’t wait to get rid of it on 11 Jan, last chemo date hopefully, either.
Very, very well done on those of you finishing your chemo and a lovely photo annemanc. The ladies you met at chemo also sound amazing.
Copperycat, keeping fingers crossed for your MRI scan. I think few people understand that for many of us, having breast cancer is a massive deal psychologically too. Time and again,I’ve heard people say waiting for treatment to start and post-treatment are the most difficult times. Hideous though chemo is, it makes me feel I’m doing something against the cancer cells. With TNBC, there are no long term treatment options, such as hormone treatments or herceptin, all of which is pretty terrifying.
Re palpitations, I had an echocardiogram on Mon which showed no heart damage, and they did a CT of lungs on Wednesday to check for blood clots, thankfully all ok which meant I could proceed with next EC, although at a reduced dose. It’s scary though, yesterday in the way home in the car from chemo, my heart rate went up to 150 and I wasn’t doing anything except sitting.
Let’s hope and pray all of us can have as good a Christmas Day as possible. The sun’s actually come out today, which is lovely.
Pinklili hope you have a wonderful time at the Christmas markets, I’m really impressed by your energy.
Camiradika, thrilled for you that your cough is finally buggering off!
Hi @daffodil1 , thanks for asking . It was ok to wear. Little gadget about the size of a computer mouse strapped to my chest . Wore it for 24 hours. Heart did race all evening so they definitely got some data . Just waiting to hear back from oncologist with the result and hear what he thinks. But only handed ut back yesterday so might be a few days yet
I was so emotional last week with my final chemo. I cried the whole week on and off. I think I’d held it in you to get through it all. I was really emotional on the chemo ward on the day and cried a couple of times.
It’s such a relief to be finished.
@annemanc so pleased you rang the bell, you look so lovely.
I had a PICC for 15 weeks and had terrible problems with dressing, damage to my skin when it was removed. securacath moved after a blockage and weeped continuously. It was a brilliant for weekly bloods and chemo but lots of issues.
I had IV3000 dressing and Cavilon as a barrier cream after cleaning to help with allergy, it did help but district nurse couldn’t get them, so I had to ask at the cancer centre for supplies. It still weeped but at least my skin wasn’t so red and sore. Last resort was a bandage with no water protection at all, luckily I didn’t get the far.
Hope you both get the PICC sorted, there are so many dressings and barrier creams that can be used.
@daffodil1@copperycat re your heart, I’d keep a diary of any palpitations as I have the same issues before cancer. I had it for two years before being diagnosed with supra ventricular tachycardia ( fast heart rate above the ventricles) so not life threatening which a fast heart rate in the ventricles (lower chambers). Some people have atrial fibrillation and is common as you age. I have tablets to control my fast heart rate. In your case it could be the chemo but it’s worth noting what you are doing and how fast the heart rate is to give the doctors better information.
My would happen lying in bed, cleaning my teeth aswell as a gentle walk or jog. In the gym the HR regularly told me I had a high a heart rate, wearing a Fit Bit or other device is also helpful. I hope the find the reason soon as I know it can be scary. Ask to see a cardiologist, mine has to check my MUGA heart scan that I have because of Herceptin.
Hi pink ladies,
Hopefully you had a lovely time with your family
Today I had the 5 th session of radiotherapy, but Saturday how I expect, the radiotherapy burn my throat esophag, start coughing and have a sore throat . Lucky me I know my body and realised that it was burnt, so I drank cold water and honey during the weekend, soo I was able to do a new session today. The nurses said it’s happening, so prescribed a magic BMX mouthwash to help to heal.
All my best with your treatment
Big
I think some of you will finish soon the chemo and start radiotherapy.
Keep in touch.
Big hug
Hi dear, the last will be on 10th of January when you will start
Drink lots of water on the day of radiotherapy, and my nurse advised me to shower with no any products before radiotherapy, and to use nothing on the skin before, and only two hours after chemotherapy I can apply moisturiser.
Hopefully we all can go through this and be well soon.hugs
