Hi all
Started taking tamoxifen and bondronat a couple of weeks ago and have come out in a horrendous red itchy rash which has spread over my entire body. Wondered if anyone else had experienced the same, and if so which pill you were allergic to and what you were put onto as an alternative.
Many thanks.
Alison
Hi Alison
No haven’t had the problem…sound awful!! I did have something similar when having taxotere (But no where near as bad) and they prescribed an antihistamine to take which seemed to keep it at bay…
take care
Cathy
Hi Alison,
I suspect the cause of your rash is the tamoxifen and not the bone drug. It is a well documented though not that common side effect of tamoxifen. I think the best thing to do is google ‘tamoxifen side effect rash’. You do need to contact your bcn or hospital about this, but until you do an antihistamine could help.

Hi Alison
I’ve been taking Bondronat for almost 5 years with no side effects – hope your BCN or hospital will be able to sort this out for you.

Tlka to your BCN but a friend of mine had some pretty strong reactions to tamox. Don’t remember whether one of them was a rash but she stayed on it but you should check anyway.
If the rash is itchy I found aloe vera gel very cooling in the past so that I didn’t scratch myself raw (ps the pure stuff is ok for use in delicate areas too)
