Hiya ladies just a quick question feel abit stupid but its our anniversary and as the title says just had sex lol we used a condom but the condom had split feel stupid but dont know what to do been on nhs helpline and had no luck can i take the morning after pill?My pill was stopped once diagnosed with breast cancer so i am not sure its sunday so the doctors are shut and i dont know what to do im due to have my 3rd lot of epirubicin on friday will i be safe or can i still get pregnant?HELP

I was given an emergency out of hours number on card from the chemo nurses.
I would call them in the morning, ie the morning after and see what they say. I wouldn’t leave it until monday. You don’t say how long you’ve been off the pill or when your last period was? I would check though as I’ve just finished round 3 and still had a period but I’m 33 so may get through chemo without the periods stopping.
My onc said I should stay on the pill until chemo done and then come off.
Hi Patsy - So sorry that you have this worry after the pleasure of your anniversary! If you can’t get hold of a chemo nurse, then I would suggest that you go to A and E today for help. They are usually equiped to give the morning after pill when necessary - and at least they should know/be able to find out what the situation is as you are on chemo. i was told to stop the pill when diagnosed 11th april but have been using condoms since and then the condom split just my luck really im 32 and im still having periods also last period was eragular and wasint a normal period.was

yeah you should go get morning after pill then. condoms can be a pain can’t they.

"Although lots of people talk about the morning-after pill, this term is actually misleading. In reality, the pill works for up to 72 hours (three days) after sex.
But the earlier you take it, the better: the morning-after pill works best if taken within 24 hours of unprotected sex."
What a shame this has spoilt your anniversary.
I’d give you chemo help-line a ring…you should be able to speak to someone 24/7…hopefully they will be able to advise you.

Thanx everyone for your comments and support rung the distract nurse who then rang the chemo ward who then rang the emergency docs who then gave me the mornin after pill phew all sorted but oh my god i do feel stupid lol

It’s not stupid. Condoms just aren’t as reliable as we’d all like em to be. Glad you got is sorted, and hope you had a good anniversary prior to that little fiasco (and I know it really can be can’t it).

We are using condoms when I feel upto it, but I always make sure I use a spermicide as well. My onc thought it was a good idea to have double protection.

Just a suggestion…BUT…I’ve just had the coil fitted as my onc told me DO NOT GET PREGNANT!!!
Feel great knowing i don’t have to use condoms with my hubby! Perfect for me, not for everyone however but just an idea.x.x.x.x.x.x.
Lolly - I was given impression the problem was more the exchange of bodily fluids rather than pregnancy. I’m sterilised so can’t get pregnant again (twice in 15 months enough!), but still use condoms to protect OH from whatever chemicals they are pumping into me…at chemo nurses suggestion. ONCs are just interested in preventing pregnancy, not in continuing intimacy!
I wish I felt like sex but I havn’t done since diagnosis. My poor oh misses it and so do I. I am justing hoping my sex drive will return soon as now finished chemo.
