Hi Maz

I thought I would reply as sometimes replies dont come when you really need reassurrance. I had my implant removed, never had it expanded as I kept having imfections.

All I can say is its really up to you , is there anyont at the hospital to talk to (listen to me, I am seeing a counsellor myself tomorrow as they dont think I have grieved after having my impant removed!!)

This journey is hard and probably like you when having the implant put in I thought after a few months things would be better.

As before all I can say really is do what you want but talk with as many people as you can.

All the best

Hi Maz

I had a bilateral mastectomy last nov with immediate recon using expanders. I found these very uncomfortable espesially the right side as this had shiffted up quite high and under my arm pit. My left side was over expanded and earlier on in the month i a perminant implant fitted on the left side and a different type of expander in the right with some fat transfer, due to the fact that i had not expanded properly. I will be expanded over the next few months and will have a permant implant fitted early next year again with some more fat transfer.

Please discuss your concerns to your ps or bcn, i don’t think that your implant should feel hard and uncomfortable. Mine feels really soft and natural.

Thanx for your replies giirls I am in a dilemna ,I am such a vain person will i cope with nothing ? is it better to be in agony who knows I have lost all faith in my BC nurse and my ps has moved on so its a catch 22 have camceelled my nipple while I decide xxxxxx

Hi Maz,

I had an expander then a permanent implant and like you was not happy and put off having the nipple op until I could decide what I wanted to do.
My good boob is a size D and the other a B so a big difference in size and also the B cup is not at all breast shaped and is hard also.
I have now swopped plastic surgeons and my new one is going to remove the implant and put the expander back in to see if he can stretch the skin to a matching D cup with a more breast like shape to it. If he cant get to that size he is going to reduce the D cup to whatever size the other one has ended up as so at least I will match!
The moral of the story is if at first you fail, try, try again lol!
Dont settle for anything you dont want and keep on at them to put things right for you - I have found that if you make a stand they do listen and in my case have gone out of their way to get me what I want.
Good luck!
