sharp tingling

Hi
I had lumpectomy and lymph glands taken out in march/april time. I have recently had a really strong tingling and numbness in my upper arm on the affected side. I knew i might feel numbness but the pins and needles are quite painful.
Anyone else experienced this
thanks
jackie

HI JACKIE,
i often get this when i have been overdoing things, ie…lifting or carrying, gardening,
i had my surgery and treatment in 04, and still experience problems now and again with my arm. obviously alot of nerves etc are damaged/affected during surgery.
If your worried and on chemo try giving your chemo helpline a ring, or ring your breast care nurse tomorrow.
let us know how you get on.

I was done at about the same time. I get tingling and I’ve always taken it as a good sign, that the feeling is coming back. Have you been lying on your affected arm for a period of time as that can do it? I always use aqueaous cream to massage my arm after I shower (movement to wards the heart). Are you still doing the exercises? They are really important - the American Cancer Society recommends doing them for 18 months after surgey, and they do help.
