After being recalled last August and 2 stereotactic biopsies to microcalcifications and given the all clear I was referred back to the breast clinic in December after a lump came up on the biopsy site. Gp, radiologist and surgeon all thought nothing to worry about but erred on the side of caution and 2 further biopsies later have been told today that I have dcis but also a very small foci if invasive ductal disease. Am going for a further stereotactic Monday to two other areas then excision, sentinel node biopsy and radiotherapy (and anything else dependant on results). I am in shock my children are 10 and at this point it wasn’t what I expected to hear

Hi Helly,
You are in good company, we have all felt that utter punch in the gut when given that ‘c’ diagnosis BUT you are in good hands. BC is a very very treatable and curable condition and more common than you think. I know it’s not the same as a cold and needs serious focus but you will be on that road to recovery sooner than you think. Your mind will be playing tricks on you and you will find yourself feeling a huge range of anxieties. Try to stick to this website and macmillan as there is lots of crappy stuff on the internet so try to resist too much googling.
You will get through this and the prognosis is excellent.
If you need any help sleeping etc don’t hesitate to get something from the GP and don’t be scared to accept any help which is offered.
Keep coming back and there are other threads for us who have been recently diagnosed pop over and say hello.
You are not alone!!
Alixx
Thank you very much for the replies, I went back yesterday for the stereotactic but they could only do 1 area as they couldn’t get the angle to do the second area so waiting to see the consultant again on Monday, I have also asked the mdt to consider Mri of the breast as the cancer seems to have been so difficult to find up until this point! I keep swinging between I am going to be fine to being in a big dark cloud of despair (dramatic I know !), I am a planner and I think the waiting is the biggest struggle at the moment x
Ali b thank you, you are right it’s just such a roller coaster I can’t believe it’s happening to me! I was back in work today which I need to fill my brain space with non bc thoughts and have started telling people who need to know at this point. X
