shocked!!!

hi, just been back for results of excision biopsy which docs thought was swollen lymph node on left side and have been told there was cancer cells in the lump, docs as suprised as me, now have to go back next tues for mammograms and biopsys and then for another excision biopsy to take more tissue away to check, also they say there is calcifications on the right hand side (which they did’nt mention at the time) which they are going to check as well,so i have gone from thinking i just had a swollen lymph gland to having cancer cells,i am just so glad that my doc suggested to have the lump removed in the first place (just to be on the safe side) or i would have gone home with cancer which is frightening!!, i have also been told to come off hrt straight away which i have been on for 6 years. sorry for the long message but it feels good to get it off your chest so to speak.

Hi Harmony

Sorry you had to join us. I was only diagnosed in July too and was absoluely devastated and didn’t know how I would cope, let alone get through it all, but I have just started my chemo and feeling fine and managing to get my life back to as normal as we can.

You will get lots of support from everyone on here, whether you want to moan, shout or just talk. Let us know how things go and hope you are OK.

Take care

Hi Harmony sorry to hear your news I bet you were shocked I am sorry you have to join us on here but you will get lots of suport from the ladies on here I did. I was diagnosed in December I woke up one morning and found a big lump I went straight to the doctor he said it was very big. So I had to wait 2 weeks for my hospital appointment I was diagnosed on that day I was told to stop my HRT straight away and then told I had to have a masectomy the next week. I was terrified as everything happened so fast. Anyway after my masectomy I was told I have to have 8 sessions of chemo this was what I was dreading but I did it every 3 weeks I thought I would never get through it but now I am all finished 4 weeks ago. I do have to take Arimadex tablets for 5 years but its a small price to pay to keep the cancer away I hope you get all your tests done pretty soon Let us know how you get on and there is light at the end of the tunnel believe me I am living proof You Take Care LOve Lindaxx

hi, it is such a strange feeling, it is true that you don’t think it will ever happen to you, at the moment i am trying not to let it get to me too much i am quite good at getting on with things and i have my lovely partner, daughter and mum to talk to so i am lucky in that sense but i think talking on this forum is good because family can make you feel really emotional, hopefully after tuesday i will be more in the picture and will be able to focus on the next step as i am a bit up in the air at the moment, anyway grandkids coming to sleep tomorrow so they will keep my head occupied!! … angie xx

hi, one thing i am worried about is that i have to have another mammogram on the breast that i had excision biopsy on 2 weeks ago and it is still qiute lumpy and sore when i press it ( don’t press it then !! says my partner ha ha ) it is making my eyes water just thinking about it, anyone else had the same thing an how was it?.. angie xx

Hi Angie

I had a further mammogram one week after I had an excision biopsy and it was okay - as far as mammograms and pain/discomfort are concerned.

Good luck
