Should I be worried

Hi everyone
Just wanting some advice please. I am 28 years old. For the past 5 days now I have had extreme pain in the top of my left breast. It’s completely different from period pain soreness. The pain is so bad it hurts to even touch plus it goes round my back to my shoulder blade and down my arm. Even if my daughter knocks into my chest I nearly cry. I have checked for lumps and not found anything. Should I be worried? . What should I do ?. I haven’t done anything to injury myself to cause this pain. Am I just over reacting.

Hi Adele321 - it may be absolutely nothing & probably is but it wouldn’t hurt to get it checked out & put your mind at rest. And if it is something it can be sorted. X

Definitely the mind goes into over drive. It’s the not knowing that’s the worst. Just abit scared as I have never had pain like this and I stupidly googled my symptoms and every website said breast cancer. I think and I am praying it’s just a pulled muscle or something. One of my friends is currently undergoing radiotherapy at the moment which isn’t helping my frame of mind. Hope the doctors just say I am a ok. Of course I will definitely let you know. Xx

The chances are high that this is indeed ‘nothing’. By that I mean the chances of Breast Cancer are lower than it being a benign condition statistically. There are plenty of benign breast conditions, it could be ‘something’ that needs treatment for your own comfort and peace of mind. At your age I had a benign painful condition, which was hormonal. This is the thing though, we aren’t medical people and only an examination by a professional will give you an answer. You need to do that for your own peace of mind, as you said you are worrying yourself silly over it, and that needs to end and you need to know one way or the other what is causing your pain. Pop to your GP, don’t wait and leave it longer, 5 years is way long enough…because it is clearly making you anxious. They may well refer you to a breast clinic, but don’t panic if they do, as breast clinics don’t just deal with breast cancer! Why not check it out and let us know how you get on?

Thank you for the advice I am going to go to my doctors. You are right I need to know. It is probably nothing at all. It’s been 5 days not 5 years hun. Thanks for replying I really appreciate it. I hope you are well chick xx

I know the feeling of a long week hun don’t worry. I had to double check that I didn’t put years haha. Will do hun xx

Hi everyone I have been to the doctors today and she found a pea sized lump. She wasn’t too concerned thankfully and she has given me a prescription for antibiotics as she believes it’s mastitis. I have to go back again if the pain dosent go.
