Sick Of Wearing Big ugly Bras!

Well, it is week seven since my LD flap operation on the left side and I am still finding things tough. I am wondering if there is anyone out there who can give me some light at the end of the tunnel. I am fed up of wearing big, ugly bras and am wondering when I might be able to wear something pretty again! Grrrrr. xxx

hi soosie
look at asda online. their post surgery bras are quite pretty. they arent small but they do look like normal bras and quite cheap too. ive got 2 and they are comfy.

Hi Soosie,

If you can manage to use a step into bra Sloggie do a really nice one. There are no fastenings to catch any tender areas. You can get them from a firm called Just Sloggie. Their service is excellent and the pricing is not as cheap as Asda but I think their price is worth the comfort.

I hope you are healing well. I’m due to have the same op in the not too distant future.

Lots of hugs (careful ones), Helen xx

Totally empathise! Im in week 4 after LD reconstruction of my right breast and wearing these big bras day and night and its so hot!!! I got mine through Amazon theyre ok but dont do much for your shape! and show alot above neck line!!! guess we have to put up with them for a while!! Jane x

Oh thanks so much for your posts ladies. Very helpful. It will be so nice to feel like a prooer girl again soon. How are you doing Jane R? I am just a few weeks ahead of you. xxx

Hi soosie
I’m 2 years on from surgery and virtually lived in sports bras at the beginning on the advice of my plastic surgeon. I too got sick of the not-pretty bras and having being through a double reconstruction, was definitely not going to wear mastectomy bras!! However, having a port in place for 9 months, made most bras really uncomfortable. I found non-wired cotton rich t shirt bras from M&S which come in an assortment of colours. Not frilly but pretty with matching briefs…

Thanks Jacq 65. I have been looking at some bras today.

Hi Soosie,
I’m about 3 1/2 months on from my trans flap reconstructive surgery & was not allowed to wear a bra for about 4 weeks. Eventually I was told to wear a soft bra so I bought the Asda ‘comfort bras’ these have no fastenings & have a removeable pad in each side, as I feel very lopsided I put both pads in my surgery side which has made both look a very similar size through clothing even in this hot weather when I’ve wanted to wear vest tops. I’ve been so glad to not wear my mastectomy bras with the prosthesis in & feel better now, but would really like to be able to wear the pretty bras I used to wear. xx

try looking at the amoena site. Pretty post op bras and swimwear.I can only wear genie bras as I can step into them and they do not dig into my ribs.

Thanks ladies xxx

I found a very soft comfortable bra in three sizes, from sainsbury’s. they are ten quid and I bought a size bigger in anticipation for mx plus recon in 2 weeks
