Feel pretty sorry for myself today been to the doctors waited 2hrs great when it is my worst time to go with sneezing people around. Taking Zoton for my indigestion. Still feel constantly sickly and to be honest it is really getting me down and what makes it worse I still have really bad wind (and I don’t mean from the bum!) The doctor prescribed me Domperidone but when I looked on the net for side affects as I do now for everything I don’t think it is advised for people who have had breast cancer - oh great what a waste of time that was!! 2hrs wasted.
Also my bottom part of my arm hurts all along the vein where I have my injection but told it isn’t anything.
Does anyone have any advice on the above, I have done the ginger thing and used to love ginger biscuits I hate them now (no pleasing is there?).
Have you tried those travel sickness bands - they seem to help but of course you don’t know how bad you’d feel without them… I find eating little and often, to keep blood sugar level up, helps, and drink tons of water to flush the nasties out of my system. Peppermint is meant to help too.
I was prescribed Domperidone by my oncologist so he should know if it’s okay!
As for the vein-pain, I had it after FEC, and it has gradually disappeared (took a few months), but it’s worth mentioning so they can use a different vein next time. There’s a name for it but i can’t remember at the moment.
Hope this helps.
Poor you - it’s cr*p isn’t it?
At least on here you’re never alone.
Hope you feel better soon
Love Jacquie
My oncologist prescribed domperidone for me for a week after each chemo session as an anti nausea drug, so he must be happy that it is safe for breast cancer patients.
So glad I am not on my own I have found this quite hard since my 3rd FEC I am so used to be lively and active, never been ill. Will look at bands I would rather try something that doesn’t mean yet another pill and beside they may come in when I go away after all this…on a big cruise ship… I wish.
Thanks Jacquie. Yes it is cr*p. Went into town today and told a friend and a stranger came up to me can you believe and told me not to worry she even told me her hair was gorgeous after chemo and she had been through it and twice and she felt brilliantly now. People can be so nice she really helped me today.
hope you don’t mind me joining in, I had really bad wind and indigestion and was given Lansoprazole capsules. I had FEC and then Taxotaire and used the Lansoprazole throughout. It worked for me. I go along with the drinking plenty of water, when I forgot to drink it I felt worse. I also found drinking lime cordial and spring water/soda water helped me.
I had pain when they were putting the FEC in and they used a heat pad on my arm, which helped a bit. There is light at the end of the tunnel. My hair is growing really quick now (finished chemotherapy in August).
I was really dreading one of my treatments and surprisingly it went easier than I expected it to. I hope that your future treatments go better for you.
I had domperidone for my first two/ three FEC, but was having the same problems as you so my onc gave me cylcazene (spelling) and I was loads better on them - only needing to take a few a day and for less time - they so make you a bit sleepy though - but well worth it!
The indegstion was better - that said I have been funding the Christmas party at the pepcid II factory this year - they are fantastic - one tablet a day and loads better - i have found - than gaviscon etc, but they are not cheap - again though worth it! I can also recommend really cold water - very good for indegestion.
I was too embarrassed to eat/ drink or go out until I got my pills sorted - I hope that you manage to sort yourself out with something that suits you soon.
I finished my FEC in June and my hair grew really quickly in the 10 weeks before I started with Taxotere - I think the rads (which I start soon too) also help you heair to grom, but that might be an old wives tale!
I had very bad wind (both ends) and heartburn. The Lansoprazole really sorted it out and I take it as early in the morning as I can. I also used the wristbands - but only on the non-surgery arm for the first few chemos and didn’t have any sickness but felt the nausesa.
I find pineapple ice lollies really refreshing, tonic water and ginger ale. I can’t abide a lot of milk in my tea now - just a touch otherwise it’s undrinkable. I had 3 FEC and just had my 2nd Tax 2 days ago and waiting for the side effects to kick in but the doc has given me a couple of days extra steroids so hoping these may help.
I had the heat pad on when they were putting the FEC in and it really did help, especially with the C bit.
The pain I am getting in my vein at the mo is when I pick something up, even as simple as a cup of tea I get a shooting pain up the vein as though it’s being cut like a knife. Going to ring unit later just to let them know but I was warned that chemo ruins your veins.
