side effects of taxotare

Oh Val you describe it so well for me too. I’ll be having my 6th Taxotere next Friday and I so hope it will be my last (may have to have 8 though).

The numbness in my fingers has been getting worse as we go along and its not very comforting to know after all this time that yours have never got better. My feet hurt when I walk, and feel generally odd the rest of the time, and now swollen ankles to add to the list.

Just out of interest, if we’ve already had taxotere to treat one cancer, is is possible to have it again if (the worse happens) and the cancer returns? I seem to have read somewhere that once having had taxotere once then thats it, you can’t have it again.

Anyway, like you say…lets zap the b*****s, good luck to us all

I may be wrong [usually am]but think that you can have one of the other taxanes eg taxol but not taxotere, but if your tumour comes back[recurrence]that means that tax didnt work for you so no point. But if you get a completely new primary then they may try it.If you get secondaries they may well try taxol to control that.JaneRA knows quite a lot about this and may see this if not you could try a pm.
I really hope your last treatments go well and you make a swift recovery. My peripheral neuropathy isnt really a problem it just always ‘there’.
Love Valx

Hi everyone

I guess wanted to say that not everyone gets those symptoms on Tax. My last was on 20 February, I only have a problem now with one finger nail and minor problem with my big toenails. My hair is growing back really well. My eyesight did suffer and my eyes were watery but this stopped within a month and I’m now back to my old contact lenses. I had some mild numbness in my left toes which has also gone now.

During Tax (I had 4 after 4 EC) I was increasingly tired. I lost my sense of taste for the first two doses (one of them was over Christmas). I was achy during the first 4 days after Tax but then I was also on Neulasta which also causes achiness, double whammy! However it is powerful stuff and the tumour started to really reduce, so I think it was well worth it for me.

take care everyone
