Silent Voices

To all of you who have been newly diagnosed with breast cancer, and have found themselves on this supportive website.

Maybe you are not one for contributing to forums such as this and I’m not really one for forums and only submit comments on those that seem to strike home with me. However, it really helps to know that here you will meet with others who are going through, or have already gone through their diagnosis and treatment. It is really sobering to think that, in the UK alone nearly 50,000 women are sharing our experience each year - a truly frightening statistic - something like 1 in 8 women. We are not alone, and for every comment that appears on a forum I am sure that there are plenty of women who gain plenty of support and comfort from reading our comments but don’t feel able to submit a comment themselves.

I would just like to offer my support to all of you ‘Silent Voices’ out there and hope that your ‘journey’ is made easier by joining your more vocal friends here.

I hope that you find comfort and support here as so many others have done before you, and will do, following along behind you.

Mazzalou xx

Mazzalou I wish there was a like button, that’s such a great post.

I’d want to add that it helps to keep in mind people post more about their concerns and unpleasant experiences than the things that go well or the times they feel more confident.

But yes, silent ones, you are just as important as those of us who speak long and loud… I was a ‘lurker’ for a very long time before I posted. Now I an an addict!!

Mazzalou,

Thank you for such a lovely post. We do know that there are a lot of people who visit these forums without posting. Hopefully, like you say they gain the support they are looking for from those who do post with knowledge and experience.

Kind regards,
Jo, Facilitator

Thank you to Mazzalou and everyone else who comments, shares their experiences and offers their support!
