Read with interest the comments on silicone nipples, especially those made by John Buckle. My question to you all is this. Does the nipple really stay on for 2-3 months with showering, exercise etc and when you do eventually remove it to stick it back on, what condition is the skin underneath? Has anyone had any reactions to the glue?
Thanks fantan
Hi fantan,
I have spoken with John and he assures me that they do stay on for that long - I have never had mine on for that long though as I get to a point after a few days where I want to remove it - not for any particular reason other than to wash under it really.
The skin looks a bit lighter when you take it off - just as it would when your have worn a plaster for some time and then removed it but returns to normal almost immediately. I have had no reaction to the glue which is Cosmesil PSA 1b (C067.
If you email John via his website he will eagerly answer any questions you may have.

Hi Fantan
I’ve just had a silicone cast made at the maxillofacial department at my hospital. They have told me that EVERY patient who has undergone reconstruction is eligible for silicone nipples (if req.) under the NHS at no cost (individually made, same as John Buckle, not ‘off the peg’ variety). Not all hospitals do this (although it should be possible to get a referral to one that does) but it’s worth checking.
Hope this helps. Good luck. Lots of love. Cathy x
Thanks clarabel and Cathy for your replies.
I had my recon done privately with BUPA. Does anyone know if they would cover silicone nipples instead of having a nipple recon? I don’t know if I can face more surgery.
Thanks
