How do you prove you are disabled???
Eg If I was to go to our local zoo, they offer concessions for those with disabilities.
What would do? Show my blue badge (this would then mean going back to the car to put it back on display) or a copy of my DWP letter?
Not done this before but …

Hi Anne
Yes, carry a copy of your DWP letter showing your entitlement to DLA – I did that at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, which offers half-price ticket concessions for disabled people and their carer. They photocopied/scanned the letter to keep it on file, so I can ring the box office and get the concession for any performance there. Also used a recent DWP/DLA letter to apply for my “Discretionary Bus Pass” with Greater Manchester Transport (although it’s taking weeks for them to process it). Hope this works for you!

I went to Colchester Zoo, we had parked in disabled bay, and paid the money for us to get in, when John noticed that if disabled I would get for just over half price. So I said to the lady, I have a disabled badge do I get in for disabled price and she said yes. I didnt have to prove it or anything. Not saying this would always be the case, but like Marilyn says prob best to take copy of DWP letter. I never even thought about paying the disabled price till OH pointed it out, but why not eh?
Sure they will let u in with that, but if you at the zoo, you might have probs getting out LOL.

I use a DLA letter to get discounts too. Noone has ever questioned it.

Not sure that I like the idea of anywhere keeping a copy of DWP letter though - National Insurance details on it?!?!?!? (Does that sound snotty of me cos its certainly not meant to be - sorry - was caught out with the Child Benefit saga)
Dawneee - that’s not nice!!! I’ll get you back for that!!! Hehehehe!
