Sister Diagnosed

Hello all

My sister was recently diagnosed to breast cancer - shes absolutely gutted.

She’s being really strong and positive.  Her consultant says that its very agressive and will require chemo and surgery.  She begins chemo next week.

I’m so sad for her and for my mum and her family - i don’t really know what to expect.  Not really sure about writing this post - looking for info/guidance i guess?

Hi MsGooner ,welcome to the forum .The first few weeks after diagnosis are so hard for everyone involved .If you want any advice and support along the way please look at the going through treatment sections of the site .There are chemo therapy monthly threads where ladies going through chemo at the same time can give each other support and encouragement(feel free to dip in and ask questions yourself -ladies further down the line pop in to help ) ,may be worth your sister taking a look too when she feels up to it .Best wishes .Jill.

Hi MsGooner,

Sorry to hear about your sister’s diagnosis, she will find lots of fantastic support on this forum throughout her treatment by dipping in and out of the appropriate topics.

There is also a telephone service here called ‘Someone Like Me’, where callers are put in touch with a volunteer with as close a match to their diagnosis/circumstances as possible,  this service is also available for family and friends.

Wishing your sister and family all the best with her treatment.
