Six days post surgery
Six days post surgery Came home yesterday after having a right sided mastectomy and LD muscle reconstruction.Feeling tired but, I have found the pain minimal and feel just more uncomfortable. Looking beyond the bruising at the moment the reconstruction done by my breast surgeon is brilliant. I am 34DD so he went for an implant plus muscle and I can honestly say it looks good. So from my experience it was the best choice to go for immediate reconstruction. Good luck to all who are due their operations soon.
With best wishes

Hallo Jackie Dear Jackie
Thanks for posting so soon. I wish you well. Thank you for sharing. I have to have a left mastectomy on 1 May and was worried about the pain afterwards so you have helped a lot. How long were you in hospital? I go in on a Tuesday and hope to be home (and gardening!) by the weekend.
Wish you so well, and much strength

LD Reconstruction - Pain Control Hi Dilys
From your posting I am not sure whether you are having a mastectomy or a mastectomy with breast reconstruction which is a significantly longer procedure.
The surgery I had involved a complete reconstruction and lasted 5 hours with another 1 hour in recovery.
From my experience I can say that you need not worry too much about pain - I had a drug infusion pump attached (PCA) this contained morphine and is controlled by the patient. If you have pain then you press the button and a dose is administered, you cannot give too much and it is always there when you need it.
I was advised that I could have used it more often than I actually did, but I found that the morphine made me feel a little strange so I only used it when necessary.
regards
Jackie
pleased to hear that Hi Jackie
That was nice news. I am booked for exactly the same on 25th May (maybe possible cancelation on 18th).
I am not looking forward to the scars, but pleased I will be waking up to find a little mound there. It’s nice to read that you got satisfaction straight away from it. I am sooooo dreading the op day.
The nurse said the implant will be a becker implant with the LD recon and I can have it inflated to what I want. I am a B cup now so may go to a C. The other side will get matched next year after treatment. The way I look at it, I never wanted a boob job. I never wanted the scars, but if I have to go through all this mastectomy nightmare I may as well come out with a lovely pair that will stay pert for the rest of my life.
Keep us posted on your progress, it’s nice to hear how those in front of you are getting on
Best wishes x
