Skin split after Radiotherapy

Hi
I finished my Radiotherapy 10 days ago.My last day the radiographer said my skin might split and to stop using aqueos cream and gave me a prescripton for flamazine.Everything has been ok… I have been a good girl using the cream and then today my skin underneath my breast has started to peel just like sunburn. Its only a small area at the moment but worried its going to get worse.I started Tamoxifen a month ago so my hormones are all over the place…(hence me feeling much worse about it than I should). It may sound silly and im comparison to what I have already been through its nothing…but Im gutted …I really thougt I was going to get away with it…So my husband bless him is now in Boots getting flamazine.I spoke to my breast nurse and she said to keep my bra off for a couple of days…I was going to London for the day on Wednesday and have looked forward to it for a while but I have quiet large breasts and wouldn’t be seen anywhere but home without a bra  lol.So ive had a good cry and Im feeling a bit sorry for myself …I feel better for the rant…thankyou for reading this.

Hi Kate,
I too am rather large & when i finished rads i had broken skin under the breast. I was prescribed “Polymem non adhesive pad” which worked very well for me. I was told to let air at the affected area and it did clear up after a few days. I do hope you get some relief soon as i know how uncomfortable it is.
Oh and i was told that radiotherapy can be working up to a year after treatment finishes.
Hope you feel better soon

Hi ladies, I was having my radiotherapy this time last year, and can sympathise as also on the large side. I used to roll up clean hankies into a roll and place under my breast which stopped the chafing and only wore vest tops as was recommended not to wear bras during the treatment. The heat didnt help either. Hope you find this useful.

Thanks for your commnets ladies…they have been helpful.I am going to see if I can pop back to the hospital today and just let a radiographer look at it just to be on safe side and I will mention those pads Maj
Thanks again
