small lump in my breast...and waiting

I was very happy to find this website. It is really good to know that you are not alone, thinking, suffering and waiting for long 2-3 weeks to get an invitation from the hospital. I am not a UK national (just arrived here 8 months ago for my studies) thus I find it more frustrating, as I was used to get help immediately…
Here is my story. 3-4 weeks ago i found a small, lentil size, lump under my right breast. In the beginning i thought it will leave, as it wasn’t the first time, however it is still there… I went to the GP, and she said that it should be a fibroadenoma, and I should not worry. However, because my mother died from the breast cancer at the age of 38, she will send me to the hospital to do an ultrasound. One week has passed, I haven’t received any notification from the hospital yet, and this waiting is really unbearable…

can’t believe you’ve had to wait so long!!
i went to my doc with large 3-4cm lump in left breast on a wednesday - by the following monday i was at hospital having mammogram,unltrasound & biopsy. with follow up appointment the next week.
hope you get there and it is all ok. Start ringing the doc to push it. If you are over 35 they can fast track you. (thats what my doc did for me)

Did the gp say he was giving you an urgent referral? If it is you should hear pretty soon as you should be seen within 2 weeks. If not maybe you should ring the gp and tell him that you havent heard anything from the hospital or ask for the breast clinic number and ring them directly to see if they have received his request.

I went to the doctors on the Friday and had a call from hospital on the following Monday. Had to wait 9 days for appointment, but was seen within the 2 week urgent time, that I was told about. Cant believe you are waiting so long.

My doctor said it is not urgent, as the lump is just a lentil size, so probably that is why it will take for about 2 weeks. Hope not more… Thank you very much for your support! I will probably call back her again tomorrow. By the way, I will be 30 in a few weeks.

Good luck in getting an appointment soon. The waiting time is the worst, your mind starts to run away with itself and you can convince yourself of almost anything. Hope you get the all clear when you get to the clinic. Ring them an ask when you are likely to be seen.
