Have had a mastectomy on the left side and a few months ago found a very small pea-sized lump on other breast - almost in armpit. I saw my surgeon who said it was nothing to worry about. It has got very slightly bigger so told breast care nurse and she has made appt for me. Worried I am wasting his time and he will just think I am being silly. Would other people go back to their surgeon in the same situation?

Not half!!! I do intend not to go to the doc with evey sniffle once treatment finishes thinking “this is it” but with another lump in the other breast? I’d be banging the door down!!!

Yes, although mortified and worried about being silly/a hypochondriac/pain in the neck for my surgeon, I would go. I would rather feel foolish about worrying than regret I should have insisted. And I’m sure that’s exactly what you would say to someone else too.
That’s encouraging that your surgeon wasn’t worried - and he clearly didn’t explain well to you why he was confident it was fine (now there’s a surprise!).
I hope it might be a cyst or something. I had a cyst that was underneath breast tissue, so it didn’t feel like a cyst, but in fact the lumpy tissue I could feel was normal breast tissue pushed up by the cyst underneath. Really hope it’s just something like that.
Hope your appt is soon and that you’re feeling slightly better now you know you’re doing something about it.

Thanks ever so much. I have appt this Thursday and nurse said they might do an ultrasound scan. Surgeon didn’t explain what it was. It isn’t painful which worries me a bit. Will let you know what happens. Thanks again. Don’t feel so silly now.

Never, ever think you are wasting doctors’ time with something like this. If it is something, then it can be treated early on what everyone wants. I don’t why we have this thing about pestering doctors when there is something genuinely wrong, especially if he didnt explain what is was; at least then you would know roughly what to expect. There are people who perhaps needlessly see their doctors because they are lonely or attention seeking, but if you have a lump, that is the most genuine reason possible!

Had appt today and they seem to think it is probably a cyst. Going to have ultrasound in couple of weeks. The lump has gone down a bit so reckon it probably is just a cyst. Nurse said I should never feel I am wasting time so that made me feel better.

Thats encouraging, make sure you still attend the scan. Hopefully it will be just a cyst and you can carry on your life, xx
