so - remission - how long will that last?

I have been told that my Liver mets are in remission. I have bone and pleuria mets too. I have just finished 6 mths on 2 chemos. Epirubicin (3)(yuck) and Docetaxol (taxotere)(not too bad)(6).

going on holiday for a week now and go back to onc in 2mths.

had my Groshong line out, which was a relief.

But how long will this last? I know we don’t know - but can’t help but ask the question.

I second that Gill. It’s so difficult when we don’t have clear answers. My mets are also in remission and I’m just trying to enjoy this time off chemo but it’s hard not to wonder what the future holds. I’m learning to live for the moment but easier said than done! Take care and enjoy your good news.

Hi all…I was in remission for just over 2 and a half years (with bone mets.) I was still having tumour markers taken every 4 weeks and each month I’d get worked up waiting for the results. I wish, now, that I’d been able to relax more during that time…strangely I’m more relaxed about my tumour markers now than when I was in remission!
Anne and Gill I hope you have a l-o-n-g period of remission.
Belinda…xx

thank you so much for your replies.

I have just hada phone call from the Breast Care Nurse to say how pleased the oncologist was with my results - so that was nice.

I am going on holiday next week so will enjoy that!!!

good luck to us all

Hi Gill

Really pleased to hear your news. As someone else who is currently NED, I understand completely the need to ask the question “how long will that last?” - and also know the answer is “nobody knows”! Let’s just hope that it is a long long time for us all.

Have a brilliant holiday.
