HI
Had lumpectomy on 14th April plus nodes under arm removed, which have now come back clear.
Been on Tamoxifen since 19th March felt very sick for the past few weeks, however that isnt so bad at the moment, but I am so tired no energy cant really be bothered to move and im not that sort of person
normally.
Could my cancer have spread somewhere else and they have missed it
really worried getting more tired every day.
Waiting for radiotherapy appointment at the moment.
I feel so down.
Dear Libby51, I too had a lumpectomy in December 08 and finished rads about 6 weeks ago. It is understandable that you are so tired at the moment. The shock that we go through has a tremendous impact on us and it really doesn’t help to worry. Infact worrying will make you more tired as it will put more stress on you.
Give yourself permission to be tired and rest as much as you can. I felt exhausted too and it is so important to understand the impact that BC has on us, emotionally, physically and spiritually.
Best wishes
Leadie
Hi Libby51
I started my treatment at beginning of 2008 2 surgeries chemo and rads Finished in november but I am still really tired! Have to go back and get my implant taken out and replaced and my other side reduced and lifted soon I hope but I’ve been same as you just soooo tired Sometimes I begin to feel I’ve got more energy and then seems to just hit me again and I’m back to sitting down most of the time because just don’t have any “get up & go”!!
Know its easier said than done but try not to worry it does make tiredness worse and we have to remember all our bodies have gone through with treatment!
Wishing you loads of energy soon and I’m sure everythings fine!
Best wishes Kaye x
Hi Libby, the speed that all this hits you can make your head spin and you are in a lull in between treatments at the mo so it has probably caught you up. Like the others say, what we go through is huge on all sorts of levels.
I had WLE and SNB on 23rd Feb “lucky” to have no spread, have started rads this week,3 down 12 to go and I don’t know if they are firing happy drugs at me too but I feel full of energy,my trip to rads involves a nearly 4 hour round trip so by rights I should be wiped out but I feel great, very strange…but it is swings and roundabouts cos next week I could be totally knackered !
Hope you can rest up plenty and you feel better soon.

Libby, I’ve been taking tamoxifen for about 7 weeks and I get about 2 or three days a week when I feel really tired. I get up feeling like I haven’t slept all night. I feel much more tired than I did after surgery, so I’m thinking it must be the tamoxifen. I know it’s only a little pill, but it does seem to have a lot of side effects. I’m hoping my body will get used to it and the tiredness will wear off, but if it doesn’t I may try requesting a different brand, as they do seem to vary.
Try not to worry about the cancer spreading. I know we’ve all done it, but really it’s not likely, as your lymph nodes are clear. I’d bet on the drugs making you feel tired.
Take care,
Sal
Hi Libby,
With surgery less than a month ago and taking tamoxifen you have a couple of likely explanations for being so tired. I’ve been taking tamoxifen since mid January and finished radiotherapy in March, and I’m still getting very tired. I know it all caught up with me when I was between surgery and rads so maybe that is happening to you. It is not just the physical effects of the treatment but the emotional stuff too that is exhausting, so be gentle with yourself!

Hi i currently undergoing radiotheraphy, yet to start tamoxifen…not sure what to expect but told to keep positive!!! people that suggest that so not starting therapy i guess… good luck to you though
join the club i no what you mean,im on tamoxifen and have just finished 15 sessions of rads,i feel exhausted a lot of the time, every bone in my body hurts,im so emotional for no reason sometimes i feel im going mad,all i seem to do is moan moan moan!!!when normally im not like that at all, anyway to be honest i dont think radiotherapy will tire you out any more than your feeling now,i didnt have any skin reaction or side affects, apart from feeling exhausted, but that could be the tamoxifen, hope everything goes well take it easy, for the first time in my life ive started to listen to my body, its a case of having to,if your tired try to rest, good luck rads arnt that bad.xxxx
Well this tamoxifen has definately changed me.
Me and hubby never used to argue, now im up and down, poor chap hes so good to me and works hard and dosnt deserve this, but everything he does i pick fault with.
I am happy for a while then emotional and crying , having blurred vision so thinking its in my brain now.
HELP- I THINK IM LOSING THE PLOT DONT NO WHAT TO DO.
Hi All. I took my 1st Tamoxifen last night and am awaiting all or any of the side affects ! My rads (20 sessions) is due to start on 1st June and I will be glad to get on with it.
I declined chemo although cancer had spread to 2 lymph nodes but weighed up the extra benefit of 2% against all that chemo involves and decided against it. I am keeping fingers and everything else crossed that all will be OK and at the moment feeling good about my choice of treatment.
Hugs to everyone and have a good weekend. Love Janet xx
Hi all…I’m awaiting hopefully my last set of results from my most recent op. I think the only treatment I will have now is Tamoxifen…which I have yet to start…so will be interested in the side effects of it in others…
Be easy on yourself Libby…ops and treatment do take it out of you and I guess most of us are impatient to get back to ‘normal’. It’s like some of the others say…pottering around the house, lulls you into thinking you have loads of energy, then you do something a little bit more and wham!! you have to rest up!! So try and do what your body tells you love…rest when its needed…mind you I don’t always take my own advice lol ![]()

hi everyone
i too feel really tired at moment. i finished chemo i think it was about august not sure(how bad is that) not one for remembering dates.
prior to that i had 2 ops lumpectomy, and then mastectomy plus full auxilary clearance and it had spread to lymph nodes. i have bone mets too., but ive found that i dont want to waste a moment of my life, and try to get out and about after i have done basic housework, which seems to have been working up till now. but the tiredness is also frightning me at moment,so affecting my moods, which has not been a problem up till now. i too am on tamoxifen, and i have put weight on im now 13 stone, so all this doesnt help me physically.just want to roll over and sleep for england.
lets hope we pick up soon.
take care x
