hi all
I have had 6 FEC, starting from september and now have just had 16/18 weekly tax. I am also on herceptin zometa and extamethsane. Tuesday was the last time I will have to have all 3 iv drugs at once. i thought i was doing ok but suddenly I feel tired. perhaps it has something to do with being nearly at the end of chemo, or just the accumulation of poison finally hitting me. I see the onc monday, hopefully to discuss mx, and also early retirement. Perhaps its all the questions running round in my head that are tiring me too. I have a holiday booked in June so am looking forward to that. Will my energy levels be better by then? I have a bit of the tax tingling and numb finger and toes malarky and legs feel very heavy. How long does this take to ease? Frustration is my middle name lol, I want to do lots of things but my body is saying no. Moan moan, kvetch kvetch…

Hi Sarah
Tax is exhausting, without all the other stuff you’re having - I’m not surprise you’re exhausted. I had mine three weekly, so would recover a bit before the next cycle. Having it weekly you’ve never had the chance to do that. Some of the Tax se’s did linger a while after it finished - joint stiffness and tiredness particularly, the heavy legs feeling you describe is exactly right. The tingling and mouth problems cleared up quite quickly. I would hope you’d feel much better by the time your holiday comes around, but I suspect you will still need to take it a little easy. I hope you’ve got something really lovely planned, it’s been such a long haul for you, you so deserve a wonderful holiday.

Thanks for posting so quickly Finty. seems like ages ago we planned to go to Bristol. I shall try to go when I feel better. When you put it like that, the lack of recovery time, it all makes sense. still, only 2 to go. I try to be optomistic. I think i have a slight cold too. It’s amazing really , I haven’t really had one since sept. We are off to Cromer for some sea and sand. I will have had about 3 weeks off from poisoning so should be feeling more the thing

Hi Sarah
You sound like you’ve done really well so far and your body is just asking you to slow down and allow all these drugs to work - that’s my explanation for my lack of energy after 6 FEC, 3 TAX and now Capecetamine all along with Zometa/Brondronat. I’ve also gone through what felt like a traumatic decision to retire early - now that my forms are submitted I wonder why I agonised so much as my days are usually really full and I now can rest when my body suddenly feels a drop in energy and I think that might help the drugs work more effectively rather than stressing my body… At the end of FEC I was too tired to walk up the neighbourhood hill - but that did pass in a few week so hopefully you will find energy again soon
Be kind to yourself and try the hard thing of accepting limitations with energy even on holiday - not that I’m good at that but it does seem to be what I need to do to avoid being too frustrated…
Take care
Fran
Sarah I wonder if your cold could be hay fever - it seems really bad at the moment and everyone seems to be having some sort of reaction. My car is covered in pollen - I had it cleaned two days ago and already it looks like it hasn’t been touched in years. Can’t wait for for the rain that is finally on its way to clear the air a bit.

good point. I feel a bit muzzy headed too. Don’t normally suffer with hay fever but the pollen count is very high
