I found a large lump about 2 weeks ago in my left breast, went to gp the next day who has refered me to a specialist, i phoned the hospital and they told me i will be waiting at least 8 weeks for an apointment, under both arms there is swelling and they are sore, i phoned my gp today and the recepitionist told me that 8 weeks is about the right time to be waiting. i think this is an awful long time to wait. there is family history of breast cancer as my grandmother and great grandmother both suffered from it. im worried sick.

Hi Lis37, I think you need to contact them again! you should be seen within 2 weeks. I cant believe they are asking you to wait that long. Pick that phone up again. Big Hugs to you it must be a worrying time for you and you need to get this sorted. Hope they help and get your appointment quicker xx
Thank you, going back to the doctors in the morning, I will keep you posted.
Went back and seen a different doctor who was so shocked that I was told I had to wait at least 8 weeks but as the letter was marked urgent and suspected cancer there was no more he could do, I was advised to phone the hospital and speak to the patient advocat and complain, I did that and was told somebody would get back to me by Friday at the latest, when I got home from work tonight a message was left from them and I have an appointment for 27th feb. I also asked the doctor to examine me again and he said he is pretty sure it’s a cyst but obviously he could not say for sure but the way he was speaking has made me feel a little bit better. I just hope he is so right.x
