Last week I was given my “softie” and although I have tried to wear it at the moment it feels really strange. The breast that I need to let my scar heal before giving me my “more permanent” breast which feels much better. The softie feels so uncomfortable I have been using cotton wool to make a “fake” boob has anyone else had any problems with their “softie”.
I also tried to wear a masectomy bra but it was very uncomfortable and will try and wear it again later in the week for shorter times.
I think I am also missing the wires and padding of my “old” bras and although I have bought some pretty bras they feel strange.
Has anyone any ideas of how I can make the softie more comfortable, I think also I am inbetween sizes so will trim it to size!!!
Just takes perserverence chica and time to get used to it. Mines not uncomfy just feels weird…even 9 months on feels weird first thing in the morning…yet I tend to forget about it as the day goes on.
If your confident enough dont bother with it til you get your other boob.

Thanks for your reply I wont be having reconstructive surgery until next year, having chemo first not sure when that will start will find out more on Wednesday. Can’t wait to get the boob thats like a chicken fillet (they seem to be more like a boob)

Its not vain at all chica…its something that youll decide sooner or later. Thing is if you have to have rads you are not allowed your softie cos itll irritate the skin etc. Ive been living in vesty top things for the last 3 weeks…its doing my head in cos i feel all lopsided again lol. Its another year to go before reconstruction…should get my turkey fillet sometime after christmas…which is a good job cos id probably cook it lol. Just needs time to adjust to it etc thats all…as time goes on you probably will go without it without batting an eyelid.
I am going back to the hospital tomorrow to have some of the swelling drained and hopefully feel more confortable. I wont be having rad as I had it before and can’t have it again so I will be able to wear the chicken fillet in a few weeks. I also spoke to the breast nurse today and it looks like she gave me the wrong size so am getting it changed tomorrow.

Your link was started a couple of weeks but thought I would still add on. My softy was like wearing a duvet very hot and my skin was very sensitive so I used to wear it pinned inside my shirt on top of a vest and it seem to pass muster. When I got my prosthesis in August I found that difficult to wear against my skin but since having a pocketed bra all is well.
