After a few weeks waiting for confirmaton, I have now been told I have secondaries in my hip and possibly chest wall and side of my lung.
I’ve agreed to be part of the SOLAR -1 trial, including Fuvestrant.( Tissue has been sent off so unless they decide otherwise from that I’ll start n a week or so.)
Is anyone on this trial-or on Fulvestrant? Can you give me any tips?
I am hoping to carry on working but have read various horror stories about pain from the injection and being wiped out for days that are beginning to get me down.
Hi WendB, I’m not on your trial but I have been on Fulvestrant for 4 or 5 months last year. I found it a doddle, to be honest and wish it worked for longer but I have been through most hormonals and they do get less effective over time. I had no side effects and the injections are slightly painful but the expertise of the nurse makes all the difference! I lay on my side so muscles are relaxed and the nurse gave it very slowly. I have heard that warming the phial helps as it is slightly viscous.
Wishing you the best of luck in your trial, I’m sure you don’t need to worry xx
WELL I DID START THE FULVESTRANT TRIAL LASYT YEAR , BUT DUE TO FINDINGS OF LIVER METS I WAS TAKEN OFF . I HAD 6 LOTS OF oh sorry for caps , typing with one hand , so yes 6 lots and I can say in all honesty I never felt one injection, I was so relieved, I understand the slower the stuff is put in the less pain. I to had tales of the size of the injection and the pain , but take heart sure if I can cope anyone can .
good luck and tell the nurse to take time , sure they will x
