some comfort to you all

Dear all

I just wanted to let you know that I am a year on nearly since my treatment finished, although I am still taking Tamoxifen the rest is behind me. I just wanted to give you some support and comfort to all of the ladies who are still undergoing their treatment, there is a light at the end of the tunnel and you can learn to live again.

Lots of love and hugs to you all.

It good to know there is light at the end of the tunnel. I found a lump last week and have a hosp app on 12.12.07. Dont know where i am at the moment.

Everybody on this site helped me and my mum 2 yrs ago when she had to have a mastecomy. She was given the all clear again 2 weeks ago so I know you will be there for me if i need you all.

HI Claire

Thanks soooo much for posting this -I’ve been on a real downer the last few days, just finished chemo, had chest infection, surgery next, then rads, then herceptin and feel there isn’t an end to it all and its always with you etc etc etc. You’ve really helped me.

So, thank you claire and enjoy your treatment free days -lovely!!

Hi everyone !
I had my breast cancer diagnosed on my birthday, 22 November, it was a big shock. Had WLE and sentinel node biopsy on the 3rd of December and saw my surgeon again 17 days later-. He told me that my nodes are clear, that my cancer is Grade 3 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, Estrogen Receptor positive. Will see the oncologist next week Tuesday to discuss my treatment. At the moment I am feeling low and nervous, don’t know what to expect and to ask the oncologist during my appointment.
I hope someone can enlighten me about this.
Thank you.

Hi Deicre

Clear nodes and ER+ are good things! Good luck with your appointment next week. I found my consultant was very good at telling me what I needed to know in simple terms without overloading me with info. I take someone with me to appointments as my brain shuts down and I can’t remember what I’ve been told afterwards - it’s good to have another pair of ears. At the moment you probably want to know what treatment you’re going to have, and I did ask about prognosis but not everyone wants to know!
If you’re having chemo and worried about fertility its worth mentioning this, as they can give you an injection of a drug called zoladex that shuts down your ovaries during chemo and hopefully protects them. No idea how effective it is, as I’ve only recently finished, but if that’s important to you then it might be worth asking! I also enquired about the use of a cold cap to prevent hair loss during chemo, but decided against it.
Hope this helps!
