Nothing to do with BC but one of my favourite family stories: we used to have a wonderful terrier who we named Boozer (as we loved going to the pub - our younger days!). We were on the beach in Cornwall one summer and our daughter, who was about three, was looking for the dog and was yelling at the top of her lungs, “Where’s the booze?!” It was so so funny and caused a number of odd looks :rofl::rofl:

Brilliant.

My radiotherapy started in August this year with Jonas brothers “no time to talk”, which is a remix of Staying Alive. :flexed_biceps: Taking it literally!

Also, when I told my son I had to have a mastectomy on one boob, the first thing he asked me was “will you still be able to float?” - he’s 27 !!! What goes through that kids head :joy:

Humour is the only thing that gets you through this - I’d far rather that, than the head tilt smile.

Yeah, I’ve had the head tilt and smile…

I work in an FE college and someone who works with the student I do, but on a different day said something and I replied if I can cope with cancer I’m sure I can cope today.

I’ve pondered on a tattoo for years, but could never decide what I would want to live with for the rest of my life. So hearing about the tattoos for radiotherapy wasn’t the way I intended to get a tattoo, but at least I wouldn’t have to choose a style, and I could say I have a tattoo.

You can imagine my disappointment when lying topless on the table I ask when it will be done…only for the radiologist to say “it’s not needed” because they use surface guided machines.

To be honest, they are really boring and tiny dots. If you are in half a mind to find a tattoo, you will one day find an image and think ‘That’s It!’. Expand on my profile pic if you can. That was one of my Eureka! moments when I recovered from my first bout of cancer. Enjoy the journey of discovery. My Tattoo is called ‘Rosie Hope’. XX

Haha I always said I wasnt brave enough for a tattoo but I would consider a tiny dot somewhere like Phoebe from friends. She says its the whole world from really really far away. But radiotherapy tattoos was not what I had in mind! Be careful what you wish for I suppose :joy:

My mum always wanted to go to america for her 50th. It didnt happen but we found out one of her biopsies went to a lab in America so atleast some of her boob made it there….

The universe does like to joke right!

This is not breast cancer related….but I quite fancied going to Australia and when I had to go to A+E because of visual disturbances in one eye they did a CT scan of my head to exclude a stroke at about 1am - and my films were sent electronically to Australia !
Apparently it’s cheaper to get a radiologist who is awake in Australia to check the films than to wake one up in the UK to do it .

It wasn’t a stroke thank goodness - I was referred to the weekend eye clinic . One of the other patients wondered why our medical notes were left outside the treatment room where we could access them and I said well that’s cos they know we can’t read them - we had a dry chuckle at that. Xx

Just wondering has anyone used their big C card yet to get out of any rubbish chores?

I was supposed to start washing all the bedding, its on my list for before my lumpectomy and honestly I could not be bothered yesterday. So I said with a sad face to my husband, but, I have breast cancer (in a obviously over exaggerated way he wasnt falling for it haha) but he promptly got to it!!!

Hahaha. It’s like a new super power!

Wishing you all a beautiful day. There’s some sunshine out there somewhere if you look really hard

Not yet, but it is on my list to do :joy::joy::joy: thing is my husband was diagnosed with leukaemia earlier this year! But is NRD (no residual disease) present - so I still win so far. :joy:

Bless him. I love that you still win though :flexed_biceps:

Love it! I tried the cancer card when I got caught out for leaving the shower pull cord on (we have a game where we go ‘HAH’ if one of us forgets). I got the dreaded ‘HAH’ and when I tried to pull the cancer card, I got no sympathy whatsoever. hahaha!

Oh no you left it on haha We have something similar :joy:

Here is a light post for you all. Before I started treatment, I got a really random gift in the post from a friend who had been through chemo 2 years ago. It was a disco mirror ball motorbike helmet.

Intrigued, I asked her why, and she said. ‘There will be times when you feel like you are missing out on the party, so when that happens, put your helmet on, shine lights and dance like no-one’s watching. It’s ace, you really do create your own disco! Imagine my added delight when I realised it also had goggles!
