Something or Nothing?

Hi all
Not sure if I in the right forum for this but here goes.
Am now in year 2 of hormone and herceptin treatment after lumpectomy ,FEC chemo an rads. My concern is the pain I have in upper ribs just beneath the breast which had surgery. When I say pain its difficult to explain. If I touch the area it is painful and it feels ‘lumpy’. Day to day my bra edge irriates and feels sore.I am aware of it all the time and at night it is difficult to get any sleep position that is comfortable ( mind you dont get much sleep anyway but that another issue) My clinician said it was ok as post rads can cause skin irritation / soreness and some unexplained pain sensations for an indefinite time.Had a clear mammogram 5 months back. My mind is imagining all sorts but as I already asked about before dont want to ask again if it is as to be expected. Anyone else having/had a simuliar sympton?
Thanks for any input

Hi Techo,

I think if the pain is continuing for sometime, sorry you don’t say how long the pain has been going on for? I would definately want to have some answers if nothing to put your poor mind at rest.

I would go back to your oncology team and request a scan. I really hope its post rad pain.

Good luck and don’t leave it any longer. You’ll be relieved when you do.

Take good care
Chris xx

Thanks Steris
Yes seeing my consultant end of next week so will be raising the matter with her. This has been slowly increasing over the past 12 weeks or so - sometimes a bit better sometimes not but to the point that I cant ignore it.Will post how I get on

Cheers xx techo

Glad to see you will be talking to your onc soon, and yes please keep us up to date. Hopefully it is nothing to worry about but until you’ve checked it out with your onc you will worry. Thinking of you,Julie

Hi Techo,

I go along with what Steris has said. Definitely raise it again with your onc. Hopefully your clinician is right and it is just down to ongoing reaction to rads. I found though that too often rads is blamed without following through with further checks to be sure nothing sinister is responsible for the pain. If you don’t tell them each time you have an appointment that the problem is still there then they won’t know!

Hope the appointment goes well.

hi all
Quick update - finally have an appointment for begining of November as my consultant was on holiday and the nurse / clinicians said they need to refer me to one more knowledgeable although they assured me in there opinion that it was not unusual.Only concern is that my appointment naming a doctor I have not met before. Have decided to go with it as they have all got a good reputation ( talked to many whilst awaiting treatments)Symptoms still the same but no worse or maybe I am just use to them!
The waiting continues…
