I returned to work in July but luckily spent that time recruiting for new store.Have been in new store now for last two weeks,so back to the job I was doing 12 months ago.I am loving being back at my job, however I am on my feet on average 9 hours a day. This is where my problem lies.
After Taxotere ended in March I had problems with my right leg and heel on right side(bc side).
Now I am ok when on the move, but when I stop for lunch or after coming home I struggle to initially put any pressure on that foot,it crucifies me,and I am worried that long term it may affect my job.
I can really sympathise with this as my knees have not been right since finishing Taxotere last year. I do a yoga class on a Monday morning and at 47 I am the youngest in the class by over 20 years. Many of the ladies are 75 and are putting me to shame, so the lady who teaches has introduced some moves to help dodgy knees like mines.
I tried glucosamine for a few weeks, but it was making things worse so I’ve swapped to cod liver oil. I know it would do me good to lose a stone, but as I’m post menopausal now I am finding this very difficult.
Hi all
There are a few threads on the peripheral neuropathy side effects, I’ll try and bump them up though they might be in the after BC section.
my Gp has refered me to an orthotist who has given me insoles to protect the soles of my feet. Not the sexiest of options but helps some of the days I’m on my feet all day. I’ve also been refered to a chiropodist. Don’t know whether that’s any help.

Hi Maryfrod
Those other threads look really useful. But if it helps, I had terrible peripheral neuropathy during and after tax, which I finished last October. But it did slowly go away and I haven’t had any trouble since about March this year. The breast nurses said to treat my feet like diabetic feet - keep them well moisturised every day really. So I just thought it might give you some hope. Mind you I am not standing on them as much as you are…
Good luck

This is weird reading these posts as I’ve got the same problem butI thought I’d bruised my foot in some way. I’ve developed a very painful heel (on the sole of my foot) which hurts when I put pressure on it. I have had it since the summer and now wonder if it is something to do with toxatere. I’lll search for periperal neuropathy.

Look for “hand and foot syndrome” as well.
Hi Mary,
I have trouble with my legs since finishing tax and just thought you’d like to know I am getting physiotherapy for the damage the chemo has done to my leg muscles. There is already some improvement, but I have a long way to go. I can’t stand for any length of time and I can’t walk uphill anymore!
Re your work - you now come under the protection of Disability Discrimination at work so you have extra rights. Your work should try to accommodate you rather than make your life difficult. It may be worth speaking to HR about your problem. BCC have a really good worksheet “EMPLOY” which could help you.
All the best to you

Hi Mary,
Here’s the link to the worksheet Sue is referring to. Hope it helps. If you need any further help with this then do please phone the helpline 0808 800 6000.
