I would like to hear of your experiences with sore mouths and gums etc.
I had my 1st chemo on 11.1.08 and had a couple of mouth ulcers which weren’t to bad. Then had my next chemo on 4.2.08 and since last week my gums have been very tender. Does not really hurt when I eat thank god.
I have got to see my doctor tomorrow for a check up before my next chemo on wednesday so will ask him about it.
I think it was my 2nd chemo I got a couple of mouth ulcers - but nothing too bad - by 5th and 6th - my mouth got really really sore - was using all sorts of stuff to try and help but in the end it was just time!!! Sometimes I think no matter what we do we will still get sore mouths - thank goodness that is all behind me now. Having rads just now which is a breeze compared to chemo!!
Hi Chrissie
Have been hospitalized in last week with oral thrush never heard of it before, could not even swallow water thorugh a straw was very neutrapenic which was probably the cause and the steroids/chemo i had on the 13th feb. Hospital put me on liquid oromorph with soluable paracetemol which was the magic pain killer, oromorph makes you sleep all time but the releif with the paraceteml was wonderful.I could take oromorph every two to four hours and then para every six hours. So if things to get to bad, also am brushing my teeth with a baby tooth brush and baby toothpaste and also rinsing with defficlam or something sorry there is so many to remember. They first put me on Nyststin for the thrush and now i am on a daily tablet for 10 days for thrush,Also had intravenous antibiotics two of them in hospital now on augmentin at home. So do not suffer there are really good cures out there and i have found about them a lot this last week
Much love and best wishes
