Sore nipple

Hi

im struggling with a very tender and sore nipple. I’ve figured out its mainly the bit that’s blue (had lumpectomy and node removal of the 9/9/16) and it gets worse as the day goes on. I have a small fluid lump too which my BCN has checked out and says is fine and doesn’t hurt anymore. 

I’m wearing a non wired bra but it does have a seam in just the wrong place and does go across my nipple. Am I sore because of the various injections and surgery, or is it more to do with what effectively could be joggers nipple. Or a combo of the two? 

Either way it’s uncomfortable! I’ve ordered soft seam free bras online but waiting for them to come in the post and in the meantime I’ve tried cotton wool pads, breastfeeding pads - neither of which helped - and today I’ve cut up the softest scarf I can find to give me some added padding and comfort. 

My pain from the survey is almost gone, it’s just this that is getting me down now while I wait to find out about chemo or not. 

Any ideas out there? X

Did they move your nipple Beth?

 

I had my lumpectomy last week and plan B was to cut around my nipple and move it up to get at the lump on the bottom part of my breast.

 

In the end we went with plan A as the surgeon was able to get to the lump and “conserve” more flesh around it than he thought.

 

If the nipple was moved they said to watch out for pain as the nerves around the nipple would be cut. This could result in problems they said and pain was one to report to them asap.

 

My nipple feels fine now (5 days post surgery) and it is “just” the wounds that are painful and I can’t move my arm very much without flaring that up yet.
