sore spikey head any advice?

G’day Guys,

Just wandering if anyone has any advice for my sore spikey head? I had it shaved (no. 0) after my hair started to fall out, but the spikes are sticking in to me. I have lost all the hair from the front of my head but I still have spikes over the areas above my ears and the back of my head (what an attractive image hey?)& just when I want to get comfy on the pillow - they stick into me.

I have been rubbing cream in and lots of little bits come out, but I still have so many to still fall out.

I can’t shave it because I am also the lucky one undergoing blood thinning treatment after they discovered blood clots in my arm this week.

My scalp feels like it has been sunburnt it is so sore. I can’t wear my wig (and am scaring the neighbours!!!)

So if anyone has any helpful advice, please let me know.

Many thanks.

I had the same problem and felt uncomfotable wearing anything but needed to have something as you say to stop scaring the neighbours and just make me feel better , I found this site and bought 8 different colours of headwear they are easy to wash (I tend to hand wash) and match whatever I wear (Bonus!) for the cheap price well worth every penny and the delivery is quick! Worth a try after all if you get one and don’t like it you haven’t spent a fortune! Hope this helps.

great cheap cotton headwear

I take no responsibility for what anyone might or might not do following this post but…

Do the spikes come out when you pull them? I had exactly this problem so I decided to wax my head! I did one large patch with ordinary leg wax (which was painless). I then completely lost my nerve and had a panic worrying it would not grow back properly. I was able to shave so did a close wet shave instead. I’m now 8 weeks post chemo and the waxed patch is growing back noticeably thicker and faster.

good luck,
Naomi

nem you are a brave woman! I thought razoring was brave! but it has gone completely in some places and on my 4th FEC now it is growing back some spikey and some baby soft! My daughter tells me the crown looks like a Catherine Wheel!

I do remember the same soreness and pain.

I decided needing to take some control over my impending hair loss so chose to have my hair cut ( number 1) It would have been so much better if I had totally shaved it off.
The solution for me was to get a sponge and gently but firmly wiped my hair off whilst lying with my head under water in the bath. This was pain free and stopped the problem with immediate affect.
Wishing you the best of luck.

hey all.

i shaved mine yesterday, only day 7 after first fec. but wanted to take control

wasnt upset and as the hair thing for me was the worse i thought it woudl be awful.

i actually felt quite liberated, and like id got rid of an old covering.
i had a beaney on yestday and a sleep cap, i felt liek i couldnt look at my chap in the eyes when it first went, but it cant avoid doing that!! so i got the wig on, it too me looks like a wig, but thats cause it is

lol
we are beautiful women and hair is just an addition we will shine in differnet ways until we have our hair back xx

Interesting one this! My daughter warned me not to go closer than no 3 or it would be sore (she had chemo for same from Feb - June)so as I was moulting like a dog by FEC2 I clipped it to a no 4. Was still moulting so went for a no 1…spiky the hedge hog springs to mind!..left sideburn bits as they are firmly attached!
Well now 11 days post FEC 2 and its growing like mad rather than falling out except at my temples. I will look like a mohican at this rate!
It was spiky and sore to start with but several washes later is feeling softer and nicer. I just wish it would make its mind up one way or another as I look like a thug!
Other body hair firmly attached and odd granny hairs on chin growing back after I pulled them out, same goes for my hairy legs…its not fair!

hi, I shaved mine on friday no. 0 - it was so sore when shaving, I then had a bath and rubbed lots more off, but do still have lots of prickly bits, I wear a buff in bed which I find much more comfortable than keep sticking to the pillow. I got it from randrconfidence.co.uk and I wear it most of the day too, so comfortable!!

Well thanks guys for your comments! I still haven’t decided what to do. Hubby has offered to wet shave my head, but he is a bit scared of cutting me (because of the blood thinning meds I am on).

Has anyone heard of anyone using the veet stuff on their head? You know the stuff that is suppose to wash hair off your legs in the shower?

I have been washing the spikes and rubbing some off in the towel, but its the back of the head and the bits above my ears that are still hanging in there.

Maybe more will come out after next weeks (no 3) FEC?

Does anyone else think their ears look huge after having no hair to cover them? I am closely related to Dumbo I think. ha ha.

Thanks guys again for all your comments. Lotsa love. X
