Sore throat (stress or side effect?)

I have a recurrent sore throat which is OK in the morning and gets worse as the day progresses. I was wondering whether it could be stress related. Also I’ve been on Femara and Zoladexs for nearly 3 months, so could it be a side effect.
I have started taking a prescribed steroid nose spray as I thought it may be due to mucus from my nose. My nose is improving, but not my throat. My GP has checked my neck, and she says the lymph nodes feel ok.
Has anyone else had the same? Is it just stress? Is it a side effect?

Sorry I haven’t , though did have really sore throat after taxotere . Bumping this up hoping someone can help you

Hi bluebird

I had a sore throat that started when I was on Tax and lasted for 8 months! I had loads of medicine (anti-fungals mainly) - nothing worked - and my onc said it could take ages to get rid of following a quite tough chemo and rads regime, so didn’t investigate for months. I finally got referred to an ENT consultant to have a look in the throat and see if there was anything sinister, and would you believe it, the soreness went two days before the appointment! Even so, he had a look and said there was some general soreness, probably from acid reflux from the chemo. Even though the worst of it has gone, it is still sore some days - always worse in the evening - now 9 months on.

If you had chemo, I’m wondering if your situation could be similar to mine. It would be worth going to your GP to rule out oral thrush - very common with chemo.

Thanks for the replies.
I haven’t had chemo. My throat was fine on waking again today. I was quite relaxed in the morning (pottering about, doing Pilates) and then went out at lunch, so I didn’t have time to think about it. It gradually came on during the afternoon. So maybe it’s something in the house (perhaps I need to get the duster out more) or it’s dry air from the central heating (which switched off during the morning) or maybe it’s when I have time to think about it. I’ve had thrush before (but not in my mouth) so maybe it’s that, but I can’t see anything white. My other thought is that I take Femara tablet in the morning.
I think I’ll have to monitor it and see my GP if it doesn’t go away.

I haven’t had chemo but am taking tamoxifen, I had a cough for months with an accompanying sore throat, when I swallowed felt like something was there.

I have been to my GP who seems to think it is acid reflux and gave me a prescription. My cough has almost disappeared but my throats still not right but getting there.

Never heard of acid reflux before but when I googled it the symptoms fit.
