Hello everyone. I had my lumpectomy a week and a half ago and am now awaiting results of tests on the tumour/lymph nodes. The incisions have been fine and I didn’t have any pain or discomfort at all until a few days ago when the breast started to feel tender and there is a sore bit on the skin, as if it’s been slightly burnt. You can’t see anything at all, I haven’t started rads yet, and the incision areas are absolutely fine, healing up nicely and no soreness. I can’t understand why I’m having this tenderness and soreness. Is it perhaps that the anaesthetic/any analgesia I was given is finally wearing off and so I am feeling things a bit? There’s no dip in my breast either, as the surgeon filled in the gap with fluid.
I don’t know whether any of that makes any sense to anyone?! I will ask my bc nurse tomorrow when she phones me, but I have been a bit worried about it.
Hi Emma, glad you surgery went well, it could just be a build up of lymph fluid thats trying to find a new way out, sure your bc nurse will put you mind at rest, why not give her a ring today, its a gorgeous day, far too nice to be worried
Hi Emma
The site of my surgery got that blister like look as though it had been burned. I think it was just part of the healing. It was where the adhesive dressing had been and so I believe that when I took that of it had pulled on the skin a bit. The dip doesn’t come until a few weeks later when swelling goes down and the fluid drains., don’t worry it will arrive soon enough!

I had that soreness like bad sunburn for 5 weeks so don’t worry it will go. I couldn’t bear anything touching my skin at all. Even now 6 weeks later its sensitiove but much better than it was. I still have numb bits also so at least there’s no pain there - YET !!!
Think as people have said the whole area is much more sensitive. Had my surgery 3 weeks ago and still a bit sore. Depends on type of clothing I have on and what I am doing. When do you get your results. Gook Luck
