Could anybody tell me on whether there is any other cream I can use besides the aqueous cream? I finished my rads just over a week ago, and the area on my neck is very painful. The skin is very red and sore and looking like it might split. The aqueous cream doesn’t seem to get absorbed in this area and isn’t doing anything.
I was thinking of phoning the hospital tomorrow - or does anybody else have any suggestions?
Hi Treasure
I have been using the aqueous cream since my dressing were removed, that’s about 7wks. Had 7 of 18 rads and I’m beginning to show signs of soreness already. I found one post from someone who successfully used aloe vera gel from Holland and Barrett. Suggested to my rad nurse I might try it and she advised that the onc likes to check any alternative creams to ensure they’re pure.
Hope that’s of some help

I suggest that you phone the radiologists.
They can give you a specific cream for skin that looks like it is about to break down.
Do not use any other cream without seeking their advice first.
I am using aqueous cream and also ‘vaseline intensive care aloe vera lotion’. It is a lovely light lotion which is absorbed quickly. I have always used it instead of after-sun when on holiday and am pretty much treating the rads area as though I have been out in the sun for too long!
I have very sensitive skin and react badly to the sun. I mentioned this to the radiologist at my planning meeting and she said that if my skin got sore, they would prescribe a steroid cream. I think you should ask them if you are uncomfortable; I’m sure they will be able to offer you something to help.
I heard that its far better to buy a aloe plant and cut of a peice and split it open and smear the insides on the “burnt” areas seems there is more in the plant than in any gel you can buy. I havent got there yet but have my dad growing aloe plants hope you find something that works well for you and lesens the pain etc lesley anne
