Hi Linda I’ve reported 9 spam posts over the last week or so.I don’t usually complain,I don’t like to and don’t want to take anything away from all the great work that BCC do but this new forum is a bloody nightmare.The spam posts are getting worse aren’t they.I don’t come on here much now but when I do I go on to new threads because I cant be bothered to trudge through all the same posts on latest posts but every time I go on there there are these blooming spam posts, don’t think I will bother at all now lol.

Thanks Lucy, there seems to be an awfull lot of Spam threads on BCC now almost on a daily basis ,was wondering if these posters are registered users and if they are are they immeadiately banned from the site, if they are not registered they could be Spam bots which seems quite likely as i cant imagine why there would be so many spam threads posted within such a short space of time of each other ,if this is the case then there is a big security issue on here . The old site BCC use to approve all new users first few posts before them going live was wondering if this is still happening. Realy hope the site can be sorted out properly very soon .

We’ve been investigating the reason why spam has suddenly been appearing on the forum in greater volumes and we’ve identified a number of ways that spammers are circumventing our security measures.

We are hoping to implement the solutions this week, and in the meantime I apologise when they do get through.

We haven’t changed the way we moderate, we do approve new users’ first posts, but as I say, there are other reasons why the spam is able to get through. We remove it as quickly as we can and block the users, but we need to change some of the other security arrangements on the forum, which we hope to do as soon as possible.

Thanks Leah, i thought to be able to make a post you had to be registerd first , so if these posts are “getting in” some other way that is a bit worrying, hope these security issues can be fixed asap .
